Daniel Adler, Game Programmer

Goood moooooorning Mortals! Daniel here, User Interface programmer by title but like everyone else doing work where it’s most needed. No idea what the community really wants these blogs to contain but today ill present you...dun dun dun.. Myself!! =)

So who is Daniel? What does Daniel do on the dev team? Whats up with Daniels irc nick Silverfisk? The questions are few and the answers are many. If you want to know more, read on.

As I said before my title here at Star Vault is User interface programmer but since we are a small team we all have to take a bit larger load then any pure programmer roles. This goes for most of the people on the team. Being here as a programmer has helped me develop myself as a programmer and each new system you get on your table gives a new challenge and new solutions.

This is one of the major things why I choose programming as a profession. I have been programming since I was 14-15 late according to some early according of others. But I love the constant changes of requirements and new challenge on each new project.

The journey as a programmer never stops, the learning never ends and the technologies advance. There is always stuff to learn and you are never fully learned. If you ever considered yourself fully learned then you have much to learn =).

Currently I am working on the new Extraction System that will replace the current non player refining system. It has been a challenge to get it where we want it to be. The system is very open and dynamic and we have lots more planned for it. It will be a challenge for the pioneers and wealth to be made!

Also regarding my irc nick Silverfisk. Silverfisk is the Swedish word for Silverfish one of those bathroom creatures that seems to pop out of nowhere in the bathroom. Point being that on the day I needed to find a new nick because I registered and forgot the password on my existing irc account and the first word that came to mind was Silverfisk due to having hunted down and killed a Silverfish in my bathroom the same day. And believe it or not Silverfisk was available for registration =).

Btw. Thats my new pet lizard Whisky. Cute, isn't he?
