Khayman, I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. I would assume those responsible are the group that incorrectlogin associates with. Apparently their mission is to kill everything in town with four legs. The reason behind the cleansing is this: people are careless. They leave their mounts set on follow while they run around town, getting it jammed in all kinds of places that make it hard for other people to get around and live their lives. Creatures blocking NPCs, creatures in doorways, a labyrinth of quadrupeds one has to sort through to get from one end of town to the other. It's just bad.
Also, it's been mentioned that all the mounts could be a culprit of in-town lag issues and all the crowding makes it even more difficult to deal with thieves in town (they steal, you chase them, accidentally hit horse- we all know what happens then).
In regards to you upstarts, I hear you are a disgraceful bunch of killers.
