type-psychology based classes/races?
so I'm not a fan of class system, but accepting the Dev's decision and moving on, i think there is a potentially very unique source for inspirations for classes in modern type-psychology.
not only would that bring in some very different classes then the usual kinds found in game,s but it add a dimension to the class-list by matching them with specific mentalities identified by those theories.
one very popular example is the 16 function types model, an evolution of Jung's theory.
another possible example is the enneagram 9 basic motivations. it even use a two dimensional first-class & secondary class system as explained here, and you can use this info to think of how they'll fit in the world and lore.
you can find other theories including one that combines the two above here.
disclaimer - this isn't an ed, and if i find that anyone here actually paid for those test i am going to personally PK you in game. i just think those might be good class-inspirations.
for example:

edit note: it seems people answer the OP without reading the rest of the thread. so I'll put it here: since the time of the posting people gave good arguments which i agreed with. so yes, this idea sucks, it's so bad that if you printed it, it wouldn't be worthy of being toilet paper. if you recycled that paper instead it would actually harm the ecology and destroy the rain forests. if a game used it, it would make WoW seem like a sandbox game. the writer of this idea was obviously mad, drunk, high on pot, overdosed on Prozac, or all four in the same time. or maybe it was just an experimental basic idea of using a field of psychology for races. experimenting with ideas have this affect you know, that not all of them will be good - you just throw them in & see how they go. to get new things right you need to be ready to be wrong, and i was
the idea includes 3 main races:
the power hungry orcs (distinguished by their green & yellow skin pigments).
the romantic ideal seeking Fae (distinguished by their long sharp ears).
the social approval seeking humans (distinguished by their rounded ears).
in addition, there are 6 variations of crossbreeds, who are split within each crossbreed combination depending on which is the mother, who has the more dominant affect in determining their racial identity (and usually their upbringing).
pure orcs are natural born tyrants, made to dominate, they crave power over others and they follow it aggressively. within orc society it's a dog-eat-dog political lifestyle, where everyone is trying to get the upper hand. loyalty exist for them only under the threat or while being promised a share of the power, and they often will seek any backstabbing opportunity to turn the first into the second. they make UN comities seem like kindergarten.
ability: blood money. to "borrow" and therefore exchange power in the form of attributes, among themselves and from or to others. while the giver must be willing, they do not hesitate convincing through force, creating an economy of the strong & the weak.
disadvantage: when those who have borrowed their attributes loose blood, to a smaller extent based on what they have given, so do they.
pure Fae are individualist to the most extreme degree, independent rogues who's mind are one-manned-societies. Fae social structure & culture on the other hand simply doesn't exist beyond general networks of acquittance & small groups of relationships & friendships, which form quite randomly on specific annual gatherings that last a couple of days at the most. each Fae seeks to understand itself, to find meaning and self-realization, and to express it to the furthest extent.
ability: redefine. to magically alter themselves and to an extent objects & sometimes even [willing & unwilling] people around them, both permanently or in creating "modes" to dress into, from a large collection of traits, advantages & disadvantages needing balance, carrying an aesthetic affect as well (unbalanced advantages result in themselves sustaining random disadvantages). they grow an affinity to using certain traits over time, defining for them a certain theme at they grow.
disadvantage: highly affected by morale (a.k.a. character emotions), to the degree of loosing functionality.
pure humans happen to be the race that formed the first civilizations. they take the pack-behavior of society into whole new levels no other species was ever able to do. their larger majority follows both official and unofficial set of laws, customs and standards without even thinking about it, thinking with the concepts and ideas instilled in them through upbringing, all driven by loyalty & dependency to their respective societies, and in the fulfillment it brings them.
ability: training. they are the only race that can train & improve their skills from others, both each other and other races.
disadvantage: without the aid of others, they learn new skills slower then the other races, making their skills into a reflection of society around them.
crossbreeds:
(will be given abilities & disadvantages based on the described persona).
children of orc mothers & human fathers, often the result of seduction or slavery, usually grow to be seducers themselves. looked down upon within orc society, their only hope for power over others is to be needed by those who are dominant. they use the social skills from the human blood in their veins to manipulate others and establish dependencies where the dominant orcs would need their help.
children of orc mothers & Fae fathers usually grow distant from orc society & eventually leave the nest. in their blood & veins, their orc nature still tells them to seek power over the world around them, but their ideal seeking nature from their Fae sides turns them to do so through knowledge, not as a means to an end, but as an ideal in itself: the search for knowledge becomes their new goal, to learn as much as they can about the world around them.
children of Fae mothers & orc fathers, often the result of rape, often subconsciously seek some form of redemption for what they see as the sins of their fathers, often leading them to judge themselves through ethics & morality throughout their lives, and the orc blood in their veins removes any hesitation of judging & forcing their views on others. the call for dominance is a subtle one for them, often heard as a calling to act as champions of their ideals and change society for the better, in anyway they see fit.
children of Fae mothers & human fathers seek themselves not in romantic notions, but through gathering as many experiences as possible, always in the aim of finding the next unexplored tier of pleasures. without the limitations of human social conduct & laws, their ideal is simple, and some say the most human, to find happiness & fulfillment wherever it may be. while like other Fae they tend to live as rogues, a larger number of them embraces society, though often they still end up as outcasts or fall into crime for a lack of respect for societies boundaries.
children of human mothers & Fae fathers seek to make their social surrounding into an ideal of harmony & cooperation. they do not wish for peace, they need it to keep their own peace of mind. the prospect of conflict can never be sustained for too long before they will try to find an alternative solution. often they will sacrifice their own wishes to appease someone else, they idealize the people around them, but when they are driven by their own will for peace, they can often drives many others with them. within human society many great wars have ended by these bastard sons & daughters.
children of human mothers & orc fathers are driven by the orc blood in their veins to search for their own battles & triumphs. they establish goals for themselves and do whatever they can to get there. within the confines of human society, rather then power over others, they seek admiration, to be revered at highest esteem. they are often able to climb the leader through any social structure they are born into. in human societies it is often said that orc blood flows in the veins of the aristocracy even more then wine & ale.
disclaimer: usually i object firmly to generic humanoid races. but given that they will be in the game, i had an idea on how i would approach the subject to make them more interesting. i would still like each of them to have as many physical customization options for their bodies as the human variety (at list), so i am keeping their cosmetic differences to a shallow minimum. the abilities i gave them should not make them better at any specific class. even if something like this is in the game, i still do not think it would constitute for enough racial variety & would rather have non-humanoid races.
