I've not played the older versions, that may differ alot from the new one. Currently playing DoD Trudvang. But I still see the influence in many layers of Mortal Online. I think it's a good thing as it emphasises a believable and realistic world both in terms of combat and roleplaying.

I'm just curious how much money they have for their servers since mounts aren't "pocketable" and how mounts will work when you log of. Are players going to be forced to create houses if they want a mount, will there be rentable stables, will stables be free, etc I ask because thats a lot of stuff for servers to handle.
Currently playing DFO. Its fun and not nearly as bad as the "trailers" which are from 2006/7 make it look. The major complaint I have with DFO is grind, and I'm afraid that MO may have the same type of grind, although they are doing the skill system differently. |

Personally I didn't like the animations (maybe it'll get better at launch), or the knockbacks when one is hit with a weapon. Liked everything else.

I am almost speechless...
That was an incredible gift and I can only say thank you so much for all that information. I was very impressed with the ideas for crafting, hell I was actually impressed with all of it but especially crafting... I fell out of my chair when I saw the Troll pick up the player character and bite his head... I guess for once an MMO will really truly be a dangerous place to live and play..lol There is so much more to say but I feel compelled to go watch that PP Presentaion again! Great job guys... I really cannot wait to play! |

Hopefully it makes it all in at launch (crafting, player housing, blood mixing, and combat). I dont care if over a million isn't in at launch or if theres only like 30 combination for blood mixing, as long as its there MO will get my money.

However, the trade off of being an older gamer is I can drop $3,000+ on a new rig and not sweat it. Of course since I'd also be using it for working on company video and graphic production I'll have to check with my accountant to see how much if any of the purchase cost can be amortized and considered a tax write-off. Life is screwy that way.

Nice too see that information all in one place and presented nicely. It will be very helpful to the people new to MO and it reassured us oldies that MO is still on the right path (not like we didn't know that already :P ).
Good work guys, I'm sorry I couldn't stay up all night and torment you on IRC. :P

It worked flawless for me and that was impressive. Lots of nice explanations on what they hope to achieve with MO, and it will be interesting to see if some of their game design desicions make for a fun game. I'm looking forward to seeing this game progress.

Very good presentation.
My biggest fear concerning MO, is that its community won't live up to its true potential and might try to make it a glorified Counterstrike arena. Here's to hoping I get proven wrong. |

*Stands up and begins to slow clap, then breaks into thunderous applause.*
This, THIS is what I have been waiting for. Everything in the powerpoint that I could possibly want to hear about was checked off my mental list... and some new things too!
And beta seems to be on the horizon as well! It will be great to help shape MO in the future... that is if I am worthy enough! *Gets on knees and grovels.* |

Absolutely marvelous. A 5/5 easy.
Some of the stuff I loved: Blood Mixing Housing explained Crafting Gathering Mounts I guess the only other thing would be an explanation of the in-game economy but I presume that is still being worked on. Cannot wait for beta!!! |

Edited because someone reminded me that mankind isn't all bad. Not entirely anyways.

Great ppt, the only reason I gave it a 4 was because it had a few myths that stood out (I've heard them all before).
Dynamic NPC behavior - I guarantee this won't be more than "fight or flight" just like every other dev that promises it. In the end, it's just cold, hard math; server resources are finite and NPC's compete with important things like server latency and player resources. (Loved the unique mob abilities though, like lunges, picking up players, etc World full of history - this will probably be something like Darkfall's world; a bunch of random ruins that have yet to be filled in with content. (They said it themselves at the beginning when they said they were only going to implement the core for release).* Also, their crafting system reminded me of a post I made: http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/5...ters-edge.html I hope the devs take a cue from there and add the element of TIMING into crafting. If a sword head must be coated in 5-10 minutes and a handle hardens in 2-3 minutes (variable of course depending on materials), you need to time the creation of each piece in order to set the pieces before they're overhardened. The timing could involve research as well as some sort of measure/identification based on skill (like their other skills - "hmm, that piece doesn't have much longer before corroding") Now account for the fact that a certain sword head may corrode in 1 minute if not coated, meaning handles that harden quickly are simply incompatible... But a dedicated crafter may come find that rarely, the sword head lasts long enough to bind with a handle thought to be incompatible... How jealously would you guard that secret? I hope the crafting system doesn't just turn into a huge chore of mixing, matching, and compiling a database. Darkfall did it for enchanting, and it failed miserably. Simply adding timing (with "usual" time ranges for pieces, and a chance for "rare" timing for some pieces) would do a lot. *To be fair, the way they are handling their lore on paper is fucking fantastic. Actually investigating ruins, rebuilding them, destroying them and any proof of their ever having existed, all to appease various factions in the world, is a great way to attract a number of player types to the game, which is exactly what's needed. My only question would be how they would go about adding it in (as I'd think it wouldn't count as a "core" feature). If you add them in a few at a time, they'll be swarmed with players, and finding them would largely be a chore of checking and re-checking various ruins/areas to see "if they've been implemented yet." I would recommend a top-down approach where you add in the most obvious lore first (ie. the capital cities for the races, whatever hierarchy of NPC's you want vying for goals against other NPC's, etc), followed by the hooks needed to interact with each NPC (win favor with X, get Y killed by poisoning his food, whatever)... Darkfall went the opposite route - they have a bunch of empty ruins that don't do anything, and they're just obvious place holders for future content that isn't there yet - kind of kills the mystery. If there's a ruin SV doesn't have content for yet, they should just put a sand dune there (for example) that would be swept away to reveal the ruins when the content WAS ready. *squeals like a giddy schoolgirl*
Well... I'm sold. hell, I was sold long before this(community differences between this and DFO alone were enough) but the fact they went through that much trouble to bring these things to light, or at least consolidated, really means alot. |

yay....power point presentation just made it even worse waiting for beta/release :P
The way SV informs their playerbase really makes your feel like they care about what you think. Fantastic!
