Default Crafting Questions

Crafting is often one of the first things I check out in a game, as the idea of creating the best of things and profiting is just an attractive idea to me. However, I almost never end up crafting as pretty much all of the existing crafting systems are pretty boring. I was wondering what is in mind for Mortal Online. Is it a variant of the same ol', or will there be a system that takes both skill and knowledge?

Well, if you've played Final Fantasy XI, the crafting part is really cool. I hope it will be something along the lines of that system, though I don't know how copyright issues work on these matters.

Basically you can craft anything from the start. However, you will fail if what you're trying to make is too hard. You don't have any recipes, though a few NPC's can tell you how to craft certain things. E.g. As a Goldsmith you just have to try to smelt a number of ores and items together. You will either fail or succeed depending on your crafting skill and having the right reagents for an item. Discovering new recipes is just a matter of trial and error, and usually costs a lot.

The only sad thing is that lists with this information about materials and skill will eventually be published in guides.

Why can't a game be built with an updated version of the UO crafting system, it was perfect

Sandbox games are supposed to allow players to create the majority of the items in the game. So, yes, you should be able to profit from it.

Whether actually making the items will be fun or challenging, I have no answer.
I'm guessing you'll have to make suggestions, hope to get heard and that the crafting system is not already written in stone

My english is bad...

Well, i think the crafting is one of the most important parts of the game (for me the most important, because i love craft and trade).

I'm really curious with the crafting system of this game.

It's hard to craft any item?? How many items can we craft?? we can create the same weapon again and again??? I dont want to be a clone of 1000 other players, i hate that.

I can chose a speciality or we can craft all items (armors and weapons??)

How can you tell me about the ship crafting??
We can make potions too??

I have more questions, but i need answers for this first.

And so sorry for my bad english.

will crafting be race specific (ala Lineage 2) or will you need to pick certain areas (ala WoW), or will it be open for all so like an orc can make all kinds of armour, weps, etc same as a human can.

Also, will there be race/class specific crafts, and will there be customisation for guilds/clans so like you can have clan tags or clan colours in your armor?

Im hoping the crafting will be complex and challening.

If its to easy the market will be swamped with stuff becuse everyone can craft in notime.

I realy hate it when i see on other games like you craft a copper sword and you try to sell it, on the market you see like 1000 gazilllion of the same type.

Thats why i loved crafting in Vanguard, it was complex and fun, you could make a classic sword then you could tune it with powers.

Same thing with ore you could make a classic copper ore, nothing special, but when you tuned it with powers then the weapon you craft will have some of the powers the ore had, then you you could do as i sead even more tuning on the sword and make it even more poweful.

The possibilites were endless and the crafting was fun.

I am seriously hoping for another crafting system similar to Ultima Online. At least a similar resource gathering technique. The way it was done in some games such as WoW where you are just running around mindlessly looking for veins was just stupid in my opinion. I liked walking up to the mountains and hacking away at them in hopes of precious minerals in UO. Besides, minerals should be difficult to come by, it's the crafting that should be difficult not the resource gathering. Ultima Online did this perfectly. The only thing that I'd consider changing is maybe expanding on the crafting system. Which I think they have done by not putting a cap on the skills. Also, the more ways to be a crafter the better. Masonry, Carpentry, Blacksmithy, Bowcraft/Fletcher, Cook, Alchemy, Engineering, etc..
