Some nice work Rainier(BTW you spelled your own name wrong on the thread title
You have created some nice moods with these works, Keep it up. As for critiques... As you already mentioned, contrast. It is one thing I see that needs more attention in a lot of in my fellow classmates work as well. Many have problems going dark enough. You seem to have that issue to a degree and the mid tones seem a bit off which makes for a blurred/less crisp design. I think working on getting the right mid tones to go along with the extremes will help give the work more intensity. Try and get some areas where there is stark contrasts to bring more excitement to the piece. Contrast can also come into play with color choices if more drama is needed. You also mentioned anatomy, I noticed that as well. The forearm in the one pic seems a bit shorter than it should be and the muscle/bone structure could also use some refinement. Overall they work fine for what they are but there is always room for improvement. Keep up the good work and I hope these tips have been helpful.

Quick drawing tonight. It's actually a..*gasp* fan art for Guild Wars ! (yes I am a fan of this game, or rather the concept artists that work for it. Look up Daniel Dociu's work, he's a master).
Not the best but i'm quite glad at the composition. Needs some work on my colouring and lights though. Guild Wars fans will easily recognize the location ![]()

Heh, surprised nobody commented on the last one !
As for now; INTERMISHUN !! ![]() This one was (quickly) made for a magazine. The theme was that a Dam will be in maintenance in 2010, so they'll have to empty the lake..and take out all the fish. Hence the illustration.

The fish reminds me of the Cthulhu mythos, with a pair of legs it would be a deep one. ^^
And yeah, no comments? Well, you can rest assured many people see them and enjoy them even though they might not directly comment on it. Most people only see a need to comment if they see something they like very much for a personal reason or when they have complains.

I'm going to focus on the castle in the sky one The chain...I have a feeling the chain looks like it would not hold a larger animal... Shouldn't it be much larger when its near the viewer? And it would be far more "epic" if a chains peace is at least a means hight... I know it could be a magic material, but...then other chains shouldn't be visible in the distance. The Castle itself looks like it's semi transparent. Especially the right-most "sky-island", the left-most tower, and the top of the "central tower", blends with the clouds in my opinion. I never really was good in finding things in the work's of others, so I guess those are not mistakes, but rather things I would do different :P Last edited by realnaste : 6th September 2009 at 13:45. |

Aye thanks a lot ! Ya the chains deserve a lot more work, they seems all feeble and weak.
Agreed too with the right-ish island (though the top of the castle blends on purpose =p). Soon enough i'm going to try some new types of colouring and shading, which should normally have a better impacts on the elements in the drawing. Coming up next will be a Skaven. Hurray for rat men

Islands don't float like that, and fish don't carry briefcases.
Obviously something is wrong here.

After spending hours on hours of sketching and editing, even redoing. Dare I say.
I present to you Amarll and Kel Dancing at the psychedelic clown posse concert. Unfortunately we were the only people there. PS: We are both in tights if it interests anyone. ![]()

After that kind of art I don't think i'll ever be able to draw or like myself in the mirror again...that was so beautiful.
EDIT: Also what the hell, still "Junior Member" after a year and some hundred posts ? :/
