How long have you been drawing? Do you use a pen tablet?

What? Some people prefer to draw with mouse instead of pen tablet when using photoshop.

I use a pen tablet yes drawing with a mouse is a chore for me.

BUT, there are some people who do some miracles (well..it's matte painting, not digital painting).

Here's an example of what Christian Lorenz Scheurer (a swiss matte painter) can do:

Quote:
(matte painting is a procedé where you only use textures and photographs to "build" an image...it involves little actual painting and you have to be a master of your tools for that though i'm far from being that crafty with photoshop. Though give it a look, type Christian Lorenz Scheurer in google and see )

Nah. Playing around with other peoples stuff requires just a portion of the skills You need to create something of You'r own, so IMHO stick with what You're doing Maybe that looks cool, but it's just copying from my point of view.

Update !

Quote:
Here's a quick one, made over the week-end. I wanted to test out some much brighter colours, as I'm used to work with dark tones most of the times. So here comes some bright red on some snow landscape (didn't work much on the background this time...kind of a relief )

Still need some work to stand out the characters a bit more (the one in red is a bit...sluggish in details i could say) and work a bit more on the colours. But eh, it's a first test isn't it ?

This is also supposed to be a guild wars fan-art (the armor is loosely based on the GW:EN Norn armor)

He looks much different with the beard (and I'd guess a few added years, as well).

So, "Rainier" if that is your real nickname
<.<

I'm assuming that your taste for the Solomon Kane look

is more than a mild flirtation.

Good choice.

I am actually looking forward to this movie.

How soon may we see you post some of your artwork, you know, elsewhere? /wink, nudge

Ya I was going more for bulk, but you could say he has some weight to spend

(although do not, when you wear armor under your vest, it gives you a considerable amount of width !)

And I think i'm missing a joke around here with this Aeltheric guy ?...

Anyway

As soon as someone is willing to hire me, though there are some things that are profiling to the horizon, one of them is trying to work as a concept artist, but that's still a little way to go =p

And no, Rainer is not my usual nickname

It's drawing day today.

Quote:
A more sensible drawing this time. It's based on a little tale I made: A water dragon who, out of greed, captured a harpist woman to go with his treasure. But her voice was so soothing and appeasing that he decided to let her live, and sacrifice his treasure for her voice.

Guild Wars fans will easily recognize the location

I cannot recognize that place in the GW world... Is it a GW2 concept?

If not.. then please tell me where it is, i've played GW for 3 years, yet i fail to recognize the place.

Gotta admit it looks goddamn nice tho :P

Hehe, I can understand, because the point of view of the drawing isn't really accessible in game.

The background is "Kessex's peak's Wizard Tower" (see image below). This tower always intrigued me in game, because it didn't have much of a background story, the main stories weren't pointing it out, and there's like..only one quest that leads you there (Villainy) of Galrath) which doesn't tell much on the tower too unfortunately (except he wants to enter the tower, though we don't know what secret it holds or what's inside it, and there's no way to get in too)

i see, thanks for the clarification, i never completed that quest, tried to do it before factions was released, and pretty much failed at it, never tried again... but i'll sure do it now, the castle looks awesome :O

(ya ya i know, omigosh it's not MO content. But I thought it's also good to share smaller works)

Ya..I admit, this last one is awful (it was supposed to be a man) but he isn't large enough, and all sorts of incorect anatomy...i hate it when I screw up a painting, because I grumble to myself for days after that saying I could've done better and always finding new flaws x(

Sorry Christian, no Seb being crushed by a Razorback yet, though i'm counting on doing it...though I'll send it to you guys first before showing it here

Quote:
So this one is quite different...well first of all it's much more massive from what i'm used to do. I wanted to do a "big mo'fockin' futuristic city" . Didn't come out bad, and i'm actually glad I made it, it's going to look great in my book.

I'm not that a fan of "matte painting" though (using texture to fill in instead of actually painting). Sure it's useful and it WAS necessary in this one. There is no way i'm going to draw all these details (I used a cityscape texture to help me). But it lacks a bit of personal touch. Next time i'll try with my own techinque..though maybe with not such a goal, hell no.
On an additional note, I'd say it's a bit messy, but it's the first..(no actually second time) i try out a high detailed futuristic city.

I'm suffering from an Artblock atm, and YES I know some people asked me for some drawings, sorry I have the ideas but they refuse to come properly on paper..some kind of "lack of self confidence" or something...

So now, I only have a Panda I sketched for a school project.

AND ALSO, IMPORTANT NOTE !!!

My new website is online. All new, all professional looking, you can now visualise all my work on it. It even has a blog and all that that I'll complete when I feel like writing

Here's the TEMPORARY adress (the final one will be much shorter). Sadly you can't leave comments yet but it will be possible in the final version.
