I'm quite happy to improve my poor english, but not the whole world is pleased to speak a different language. So, i'm just wondering, why not have more international forum sections (italian, french, german and so on), as Stargate Worlds forum has (one of the successfull keys of that community)?
For me should be a way not to divide the community but to add more people in it. I personally know many boys and girls that have much difficulties to write in english ... Just an idea |

For french, german and italian forums just a skilled one from, maybe, a local network, for example (me too). |

Nolvadex, you'll be surprised to know how many people aren't from sverige, uk, usa, france, deutschland or italia (for example, i'm from Russia) so it'll be a little discriminating, don't you think?
and in any case the english-speaking part of the forum will be the most informative, so there's just no need for multilanguage. |

because it creates isolated communities rather then everyone speaking together.
and some of us are from countries who hardly have an MMO fanbase: yay i can speak hebrew on the forums. with who? myself? i'd rather this site be in english, and let the specific-language fansites that will most likely open up have their own forums if they want too.

hmm, no it's not... i like being able to read all the different ideas, topics and suggestions regardless of the poster's nationality.
after the game is released - since it seems we'll have regional servers, then i guess they should come with regional forums (unless it's on a general "European server" sort of scale). i don't like it, because i end up lagging on a British server just for the English all the way from Israel, and also because I'd rather have a game with a larger population scale... but it seems to be starvaults current plan.

It's tough to make a sandwich when your bread is in the backyard, your meat is in the fridge, and your condiments are all scattered about the county. Basically meaning, you lose creativity when people get split apart, causing less melding of ideas and a less refined game. |

In Stargate Worlds the the international forums have a great success. More people come everyday cause there are. And, knowing the game in their languages, they are more involved to post also in the english sections. Ok, i have "spammed" this section enough, stop!

you know, most of the contacts worthy of keeping i gathered up over the years from MMOs & communities are not native English speakers... French speakers from France & Belgium, a lot of them are dutch, one is German, another one is Romanian, probably the longest standing one is Greek... great people to play with and speak with.
ok, so a couple of them are from north America, but even there one is a French Canadian. it would have being quite a lost for me if due to separate forums & servers i would have never gotten to know them. and no, I'm not a native English speaker either - my English was terrible when i started playing MMOs. but it improved over time. and judging by my euro-collection, it was totally worth it

i think pure loclisation forums makes sence if the game are in the beta .. a moderator will be found easily by the community. i can help in german ^^. meanwhile i have to help me some times with google translation ;o)
But ... maybe there would be als yet a nice idea to have language forums with a few folks that could translate official and importang messages, information, etc. |

I would be happy to help out at the Norwegian forum. But at this point i doubt its really needed since there aint that many members/active members... But at a later point it might be nice to have it.
Nice thought though. EDIT: in case my post was/is misunderstood. I wasnt speakin of Norwegian forum exclusivly. I was speakin of international forums in general, isnt needed at this point (in my opinion). Last edited by Ördög : 11th May 2008 at 11:01. |

i personally prefer to see mistakes in spelling and grammar made in a foreign language than in my native one, it's a bit more satisfying because of it's very annoying to have native forums and you read them and think: wtf! what did they learn at school ?
and english is fine, internet english is even finer and noone really cares about would even love to see an "english only" version of the final game, nothing's more annoying than one server for all but all got their own language + different location names, class names, abilities, items -> communication = screwed my english is bad, i know |

actually they made it an english forum for the australians you know, at first when i gone on MMORPG's by friends of mine the english was hard for me, and sure, i did thought it was unfair that we had to speak "their language"... but guess what? the only thing you get out of it is a huge advan |
