i really like it that many of the developers are participating as community members
but, I've noticed a couple of times that the coders had to go fourth & explain that they aren't designers and what they say is just their opinion. and i think even i accused one of them for something i didn't like about the game once (sorry Sebastian). sure after awhile we get to know who is who, but they are always going to be newcomers and such that will repeat the same mistakes. i think that if you guys just put your job title in your signatures or profile or something, this sort of thing wouldn't happen so much. this is really a humanitarian request if you think about it: save the coders & artist from the crossfire

Well the thing is: when we write that it's only our own opinion you should keep in mind that we all have a lot to say when it comes to game design, we just don't have the final word. So a programmer's own opinion could very well end up in the final game.
About that attack well I cried for a week or so but I'm better now, if you write "Coders are better looking then artists" as a reply in this thread I think I will be able to move on with my life again.

Hey .. i'm also a coder .. we are the great old race .. so have the power to destroy all artists :=) Fact is, that some artists dont know what is possible by coding .. so sometimes you get impossible ideas from them.
So be good and grateful for all dev's ;o) |

I agree with the OP. I really love it when players and developers interact with the community. Developer-community interaction is very important for a game in development.
Also, you can't have one without the other |

but it can totally kill everything aswell ... the "player" makes suggestions and "wants" to have them in, but the dev got to say: "sorry, no chance for" -> disappointed player that will likely start to rant about ... and lots of other problems ... not that easy ... |

just a couple of posts ago Mats actually explained why something i wanted would create technical difficulties which would limit other areas of gameplay.
IMO it feels better to get this reasons & explanations which teach you to real considerations Dev's have to make, rather then simply having suggestions ignored. for example, i wanted realistic items using slots on your avatar without any inventory, i wanted branch-to-branch tree climbing, i wanted crafting to consist of many small parts you can arrange yourself... but now i understand that these sort of things can come in the price of battle size, a seamless world, etc' which are more important IMO for an MMO.

I wouldn't want to play a game with programmer art, to be honest.
