Virakar is potentially going have a chapter in this game. Normally we prefer to try and keep a fairly low profile, but I figured an introduction might be nice:

From our history page:

Virakar was founded in 2002 while playing Shadowbane. As the guild grew so did our friendships and the desire to play together in future games. Following Shadowbane, we have had a presence in World of Warcraft, Star Wars Galaxies, Vanguard, EVE Online, and Warhammer Online, and Darkfall Online.

While the mechanics of those games varied greatly, a few things have always defined Virakar. We began in Shadowbane as a roleplaying guild, playing as Irekei, the red-skinned race, conquering the Desert in the name of The Dragon. The name Virakar comes from the Irekei language, tranlated as “group of the desert." Despite our roleplaying image, our enemies knew we were a force to be reckoned with in PvP. We prided ourselves on our coordination and ability to out-maneuver other guilds, often winning even when outnumbered. This mentality of being at the top of the field continued in future games. In World of Warcraft we continued to excel at PvP, but adjusted our play style to fit the game and shifted our focus to the game's main challenge, PvE. With each new branch, we have met and overcome new obstacles, making us stronger and more adaptable to future games.

Finally, along the way we have picked up countless great members. And really, at the end of the day, that is what Virakar is about. We are more than just a community of gamers. Of course we appreciate the respect of our enemies and its nice to be seen as very good at what we do, but we are all here because we simply enjoy playing together. Virakar is many things, but above all else, we are a family.


We will undoubtedly transform and change in the years to come, but these words represent much of where we have been. If these ideals resonate, we hope you'll look further.

I didn't write it. Our guild has an active presence in WoW and Darkfall at the moment. In DF, we helped found and run the Yssam Coalition, which at its height held the entire sub-continent of Yssam. We defended the city we built from scratch (Mehatil) against many sieges, and it was quite possibly the most sieged city at the time we sold it. At present, we've taken more of a background role in DF, doing our part for the Shadowbane Alliance.

What server(s) did you play on in Shadowbane?

Our guild played officially on Death, Corruption, Mourning, and Vindication (and the occasional test run). We had people play unofficially with various guilds on Vengeance, and Mourning (as rerolled and MV/TDL). I think one or two of our folks kept playing after that, but I didn't follow the game after that and our guild as whole had certainly moved on.

I can get into the specifics on most of our activities in SB outside of vengeance if you had any particular questions.

By played with you, I mean wandered into your city and mooched off your resources and NPC's. I was in a guild with Yamamoto/Fox Kalin/Mottz (Motts?). I think they joined up with you after the clan broke up

I mainly played on Vengeance for a while and I know there was some big Irekei-themed guild, but I couldn't quite remember their name.

Wouldn't surprise me, we're still around in that game (maybe 10 active a night).

And Proto, I dunno about Panthro - he's been having computer issues lately. You should see the picture on our tech forums of his DF being possessed by satan.

Do you need a home, Proto? I have no idea if we'll actually stick with the game, but I'm shameless and don't mind playing with old friends, as long as they don't mind that I have no freaking idea how this venture will turn out, who will wind up playing, being in charge, etc. ^_^

After HoT broke up I went to the mainland and was captured by a RP Mahti slavedriver group who took me to Mar Shral and made me work for 20 hours a day for the great Lord Gluttony.

I stopped playing way before that. I stopped playing about a week or two before Hyperion officially collapsed. I'm not sure what the people that are still playing are doing, their clan name is FISTICUFFS if you ever see em.

Ah, shows you how much I payed attention to forumfall in DF. XD I really like your post there though (having now finally read it), very classy.

You might remember me because I was a mod and the Channeler advocate. But I wasn't on vengeance. If you played on Vindication though, you might be recalling my Nightstalker SD - I was the branch leader for Virakar on Vindication, and I kept a high profile as our public face (on top of my duties related to the game).

I'm not nearly as active as I used to be though, which is why for most things I take a backseat. The only time I spoke up in DF was when YC had civil war and they needed someone to try and do damage control on the DF forums. I'm just organizing our first push into MO (since nobody else did), after I'm hoping someone will step up over the course of beta to lead a release branch, since I know I won't have the time.

Out of curiousity, what guild were you in on Vindication? Also (again out of curiousity), what are your plans in this game?

Well Ark, I may just take you up on that! I've been rolling with WB for the most part for awhile but they seem pretty locked into DF...and hell, I'm like the village slut, I get around. I love playing with old friends, and I am definitely not one to mind that there is no real plan thus far. I don't even know if I'll play, guess it depends if this game ends up like DF.

We'll see!

I did play on Vindication, so that is certainly possible. I played with quite a few guilds on Vindication, and I don't really remember them. I actually started my own guild for a bit but that lasted for like 2 weeks and was a complete disaster.

My plans in this game are a mystery only known to me, sorry. Many ask me but I cannot reveal my secrets.
