Yes - well in real life things aren't so distinct. Slashes, cuts and crushing aren't *quite* so seperate when you're smashing each other over the head with sharp iron and steel sticks. :P
Hell the idea of "damage" and "damage points" is complete rubbish. If you want believable results the first thing you do is ditch hit points. In that respect I'd say Elves and Dwarves are at least feasable (very human-like races - they might even be sub-species of the human race if you just want something like them) and alot moreso than some of the other game-y stuff we take for granted. |

omg i think this is game what i was really looking for, crafting system sounds perfectly and it seems like something i never seen before. I play Ultima Online a lot thats why i am really happy that MO is going to be a full loot game

the rewievs seem pretty solid to me, according to the negative and positive critics in it.i really hope that this mmorpg will be the game i`ve been looking for so long.but i hope that the promised features will be realised in the final game (like building houses and villages with your guild) because these are some of the major points wich make the game so interesting to me and a lot of other gamers.for now everything looks fine and it seems to become a great succsess ( i really hope so ), sv keep it up, you got a groving fanbase allover the world, wich is supporting you.greetings from germany

I train with weapons irl, and a double bladed axe being wielded by a big guy could actually have some advantages. Most strikes in combat are in multiples....or a series.
Am I a ninja or a master irl? No. But I could think of a few basic swings that a double bladed axe could be advantageous for. Deca |

Awesome post!! Good to see that the Dev's have their heart and soul in this game. Its just like any other job, if you don't enjoy what you are doing, chances are you might not do very good work. But on the other hand, if you DO enjoy what you are doing, you have the motivation to be thorough and meticulous about the quality of your work. This is a good sign for the outcome of Mortal Online =).
MO is going to revolutionize MMO's and any other game for that matter. I have lots of time on my hands and cant wait to get them dirty as well =). P.S. - I love beta testing lol =P

Well, I am living with my parents while I go to college (only 19 y.o) so I would hate to be running around with some muscular/veiny half orc dong flopping from ankle to ankle when my mom/little brothers walk in. I think they should at least have a black bar covering the goods so that younger kids can buy the game too (younger kids = more kills and phatter lootz)

Well here is a funny thing that I have noticed in beta, whenever someone runs out naked or without any pants, no matter who was fighting who initially, everyone would be out to kill the guy without any pants, after which everyone would resume their regular fighting.

This sounds positively amazing for such an early beta stage. I especially love the part about weapon crafting being about balance being material weight and strength. I love playing gatherer/crafter classes in mmo's and it sounds like there will be skill involved even in the crafting phase of the game. full frontal nudity doesn't really bother me but may turn off some potential players. Then again this is a mature game for serious mmo players. Those players who demand pants can go play some WoW lol. I wish i had heard about this game earlier so i could have gotten in on the ground floor for the initial beta release. Anyway im going to patiently wait for my beta acceptance (crosses fingers) and read every post on the forum in the mean time.

"The character creation is split into three screens. In the first you select your Species, then your primary race, and then finally gender. At the bottom the race sliders where you can slide away your genetic history.
If you chose a half-Orc as your primary race and you start to wiggle the Khurite slider, your character will smoothly warp to resemble a Khurite. You can also have a mix of every race" So I can basically make any character my geeked-out, fanfiction, roleplaying mind wishes? If they keep their promise on this I will probably have a temporary nerd-seizure! "...Weapon balance aside, it is boggling as to what type of weapons can be made, practical ones and even comical ones, like a two handed great sword handle combined with a spiked ball..." I have never seen any game implement such an amazing form of crafting! (Assuming they stay true to this) This game will make even those that stray from crafting in to rabid crafters creating the most ridiculous gear/weapons ever! "...good items will be determined not by their "Max/Min" damage, but by the use they were designed for and personal preferences of each player, as certain weapons will be heavier, draining more stamina and in return doing more damage, or light weapons that do less damage..." This will further make the game dynamic waaaay more interesting! It will seriously bring me back to the old days of Mechwarrior when people had to balance their character's ability based on weight and drainage. "...A good weapon can take out a naked character with 3-4 swings..." You mean there won't always be tanking wars that go on for several minutes at a time? People can be vulnerable to quick deaths??? FINALLY!! Real twitch-based combat! |
