and reading that the Dev's are unsatisfied with the homepage poll i couldn't help but hope to make this poll potentially meaningful (useful for the Dev's -> meaningful for us). besides, they aren't likely to release it all in one go - they need to make a choice on what info to release, so wouldn't it sort of make sense if each voter also had to make that choice? p.s. i voted for the same

It just doesn't make any sense to me to ask for races or skill lists when they've said they only want to release them one at a time. I'd rather get something that I don't have to wait months to figure out. Besides, races and lore play a very little role in how this game will be different than any other MMORPG on the market, and that's the kind of knowledge that I'm looking for.

Regardless of what races are in the game, or whether or not my house can be demolished, or if my mount is killable or if pet taming is actually a class *gasp!*, combat is always the meat of MMORPGs, like it or not, and usually provides the core of all gameplay elements.
Crafting is just people making items to wage war with: weapons to kill, armors to protect, houses to display the trophies of war, castles to lay siege to, and siege engines to lay siege with. Stealth systems are just another combat mechanic, useful for setting up ambushes, magic is used for combat, healing is used to prolong combat or lessen the fatalities of combat, and then there are fighting classes themselves, completely and undeniably made for the rigors of war. Combat is what a majority of players will be doing, and I think it's time we learned more about why I want to play this game: for its supposedly player skill-based combat. We don't even need videos or gameplay footage or whatnot at this stage, just a description in words would suffice until you feel ready to show us an actual video.

Whilst races and lore is a minor thing, its also risk free to discuss. Its a major aspect to the game itself (from a non-technical aspect). Anyhow, it lets me think about the possibilities of what I might like to play as. |

Sweet pool, we can really use this.
Another great pool is my gene pool, I'm very handsome and I thank mother nature for that.

I would like to know more about the combat system. I'm a very action focused type of gamer, and I like combat to be fast paced, yet skillful. Thats why I liked the Oblivion system of combat so much. It was a easy system, but it really took skill to hit the vulnerable spots on your enemy's.
Same thing goes for Mount & Blade. The blocking system is amazing, as well is the combat system. The direction you turn is the direction you swing or stab or whatever it is you do. And again its all about finding the open weak spot on your enemy so you have to be skilled and look for a chance to land a crushing blow. A video would be nice to have, kind of showing us a bit of everything that has been listed. But that isn't likely going to happen so I'll just ask for the combat stuff, and keep on wishing for a video -Ethnine-

I don't expect that combat can be simply "explained" to us. Not me anyways. I am kind of a do it myself learner. Even a video of the combat wouldn't exactly show me what it's about in MO. Unless maybe it was a video like AoC's combat video, that was enough for me to know that I wouldn't really care for it.

I would like more information on how the physics, or how realistic the physics will be. At least how it relates to combat.

Yeah, that's a tough poll. Combat, physics, crafting/economy and battle-scale are all areas I would like some more info on.
I voted combat mechanics as that is where the most important innovation for a PvP should be taking place.

combat mechanics is on the win...
i know many people want more then one subject, so would i, but as i see it, since the Dev's need to choose what to tell us about, so should we need to choose what we ask for. just decide what's your main priority, what interests you the most.

*F0rd sighs contentedly...*
Oh how nice it feels to know that at least that small part of the universe is going my way. Now to force all the rest of it into alignment...

I'm surprised so far that no one has voted for the NPC and hiring. I remember a thread a little while ago that got a little heated about calling the NPC's slaves. Mind you my brain is soaked in alcohol and I maybe I'm just remembering it in my own special way.
Still want to hear about crafting though :P |

I wonder what exciting things people are expecting from a "combat mechanics" update. Don't we all know how it's gonna work basically?
I hope after the update, I won't be like "I could have guessed everything they just announced". Maybe I consider it so not important that I don't even see what could be interesting about it. I don't know... |

but are their different combat moves for each weapon? does it change directionally? is their a way for more intricate moves? is momentum taken into account? is their damage for specific body parts? or perhaps even vulnerable points in the armor? how does dodging work? i can think of a lot of things we don't know yet about combat, but... non of it should really be described in words IMO. this is the sort of thing you need to see, such in a video presentation, and these usually are either revealed in conventions (GDC/E3/etc) or a lot later in development with video dev' journals... on the other hand we did get an in-game trailer first thing, so you never know. either way i still think the level of PtP (battle scale & sieges) is more crucial to know what kind of game are we talking about - what's the larger picture.
