Maybe a bit on the races, including some background info as was done for the half-orc. Also a bit about the world in general, perhaps a little history and geography. Something that would give a nice feel for the world and give a starting place to maybe craft some player-written lore-based fiction. While the half-orc lore is wonderful, it would be nice to have at least a vague way to weave it all together into a cohesive story.

I was tremendously impressed by the degree of impact that seems we will be able to do in Darkfall Online.
After reading the FAQ here, I wonder in which degree will we be able to do real impact on the world. I talk about kingdom building... or just building your house, that could be burnt by another player if not protected properly (like within a city.... governed by a player?)... I talk about things like killing so many goblins in an area that they migrate somewhere else and the area becomes safe, but another gets infested by them. I talk about being able to conquer a player kingdom or be successful by just being a trader, even if you play little hours, you might set up your caravans right in a way they are successful, and you get rich while offline if done properly... until a player affects the world in some way that it is not possible anymore (like assaulting those caravansI). I could go on and on... what I want from an MMO is a feel that I´m impacting the world and not just do quests, I hope we can hear as soon as possible in which degree we are able to truly do that. |

A. Low Quality - Basic graphics with grass being flat, etc.. Very playable for those who's computers aren't really "up to date". B. Medium Quality - Graphics that get a little more detailed. They show the water actually moving in a little more detail, they show trees to be a little more textured, etc.. C. High Quality - Graphics that are way more details then those of low quality. Trees move with stunning leaf movement, stunning grass movement, clouds moving with details, characters outline being of almost perfect detail. Spells look more clearer and more beautiful. etc... D HD Quality - High Quality + some. This would be the graphics where the hair moves, the grass looks like it's real, everything looks shinier and more realistic. The characters look so realistic, similar to ps3 gaming graphics. I would love to see a game with Thunder Storms in areas where weather can impact the game and look outstanding. As I realize graphics of the HD sort would take a machine that mine is probably not capable of, I would still LOVE to try and see how it is. I mean, can you imagine cinematic type graphics in a game? That's why I'm such a fan of games like Lineage 2. Graphics can really key a player into a game. Of course, I still enjoy warhammer which is a whole different set of graphics and take you into a more cartoony feel. Warhammer and Wow have nice graphics but aren't really realistic. It would be nice to see a mmorpg game come out with realistic type ps3 graphics...still waiting. Gameplay matters a lot because without good gameplay you'll quit and get bored. I think the main factors of a game are gameplay and graphics. To be in a world that is enjoyable and keeps you entertained and busy with nice pvp to graphics quality being superb. I think Implanting weather would be cool. Natural Disasters in the game, wouldn't that be neat? To be running aside a Tornado? Not that many people care, but things like this could be neat features in games and really could be implanted into gameplay. |

Hello all. I think Races info and Background-World info are necessary because the "in-deep" of a "new" world is very important. Example: all know (or can find info in a million sites) the background of Hybornia, or the Middle Earth history and races.

On a side note, the best MMO that I've ever layed my eyes upon as far as graphics are concerned would be Gods and Heroes which has been cancelled of course. This game offered little outside of questing. No pvp, etc.. It was a very independant game where most of the gameplay was done solo. The best gamepley MMO that I've ever played has been UO. And if I had to choose between those, I'd choose UO anyday. |

To whoever marked me down for not knowing what I'm talking about with this last post you need to do some research. Graphics plays a huge role in lag. That is the entire point of rushing to the computer store for the next top of the line Ati or Nvidia card. Yes your CPU, RAM, and Hard Drive play a role in it as well, but Graphics is huge! How do you know what an MMO is and not know this? Have you ever played a game with the settings all the way up and then lowered them in order to increase performance? Obviously not. Are you looking for a lesson or are you just that eager for an HD game?
Aside from that, if you're so sure in your beliefs why not reply with an intelligent counter arguement instead of some juivenile behind the scenes unintelligent gibberish about how I don't know what I'm talking about? There is no need to give me bad reputation points just for stating the obvious. The only arguement that you could possibly have is that you don't understand the term "Lag". There are many forms of it. Server Lag, Processor Lag, GPU Lag... PM if you wish for me to enlighten you. |

well potentially a lot of things could be done client side and thus have single-player optimized graphical levels, it's just that you'd loose a lot of gameplay functionality.
for example (off the tip of someone else's head) it wouldn't be much trouble to have ragdoll upon death client side, but any gameplay based off the corpse location (like full loot, body parts etc) would become problematic. the client could easily support full shadowing just like every single player game, but hiding in the shadows would become irrelevant since people could turn it off through settings or hacks. etc...

id like to know about the classes. How much magic will be in that game? the more we know about hte classes, the more we know about how this game is goin to be. If theres only big guys with axes running around, it obviously going to be hectic, but if theres 10 different classes which each very specific roles we can see how things will end up in a mass pvp battle

the way "classes" work (i hate calling them that) is that if you decide you want to be a mage, you can join the mages guild. doing so will have certain prerequisites, so maybe you'll need to have 80 intelligence, or 80 skill in magic and 80 in focus (those are just examples). by joining a guild, you essentially become a "mage" which will give you certain benefits, like maybe your spell damage will increase or you'll get access to special spells that only mages guild members can cast. however, if you want to change, you can quit the guild and join another (provided you meet the prereqs for the other guild). so you aren't by any means forced to choose a class or stay in one once you choose.

Bring on the info about empire building.. I am a RTS fan through and through, so to make a game that is a MMORPG and then combine it with RTS would mean the game of my dreams, not to mention many others dreams I am sure. All other information is exciting but just not what I am looking for.
