Pathfinders (EU) - PVP Focused: Recruiting exceptional players

Pathfinders is a European based, English speaking guild created specifically for Mortal Online. The guild has been created by experienced MMO gamers with backgrounds in Darkfall, Planetside, Lineage, Shadowbane, UO and many more. We currently have an active presence in BETA. Our recruitment is selective, and our aims include having a settlement at launch and being known and recognised as lethal group fighters. We are neither a red or blue guild, but somewhere in-between. PvP is our focus, but we will also experience all aspects that the game has to offer. We are a hardcore guild, we require a high amount of activity and commitment from all of our members. We do not accept 'casual' players.

As a side note, Pathfinders do not engage in any sort of RP. You are of course free to role play in your own time, but when in a raid/pvp group it stops.

Our primary aim is to put together a strong base of people. We are a good way towards that now, but we still need a few more good people to help the guild live and breathe.

At launch, we will construct a settlement. Having somewhere to base our operations is obviously essential and that will be our primary goal. We intend to excel at PvP and become lethal group fighters. After that, where ever we decide to go. Many guilds lock themselves down at this stage to be 'Blue, Anti-PK, Empire-building, Plate Wearing and wearing purple hats on tuesdays' etc. We feel that for us, it is premature to lock ourselves down to any set path, as there is not enough real information about the game.

Our recruitment is selective. We are not afraid to say no to people who we think are a poor fit for the guild. Our guild size will max out at around 30 active members. The members are the core and the strength of any Guild, the reason why the Guild lives or dies, fails or succeeds. We are not ignorant of that and we value good players immensely.

We are looking for mature, dedicated people who have the ability to have a laugh but also to commit to the game in a serious manner.

There will be no children screaming on vent, there will be no non-contributors and people will not have their weight carried for them. If we see anyone doing anything of this sort, not contributing or slacking at the expense of the guild - that person will be booted. We are not interested in people we have to babysit.

At this time, our recruitment process includes a written application. If you are accepted, this is followed by a trial period of 2 weeks. Based on activity, ability, potential and on the person in general they will be accepted or denied.

We do not expect our applicants to instantly be amazingly skilled players, that comes with time and practice. We do however expect our applicants to be friendly, intelligent, able and committed.

Pathfinders are currently only taking people who have BETA access - we are however willing to overlook this rule is the application is truly exceptional.

Guild Leader: Head of the Guild. Has the final say in all matters.

General/Ambassador/Treasurer: The heads of Military/Diplomacy/Trade and Finance. These three officers, along with the Guild Leader make up the Guild counsel. All large decisions will be made between these four people.

Officers: Help to run the guild on a day to day basis. Given specific duties, from helping moderate the forums and dealing with inner guild matters, to leading squads and raids.

Members: The core of Pathfinders.

Recruits: Trialling for membership.

The counsel will be very heavily swayed by the voice of the members. We will listen to every members opinion. People are in the guild because we respect them is this way we are a democracy, having said that - the Guild Leaders word is law.

We will do what we need to survive, above all.

We are not looking to be a 'Blue - Anti PK', or a 'Red - Kill them and steal their shit' guild. We will be a shade of grey. We will take what we need, but we will not actively seek to kill everyone we see. With this in mind, our applicants should be aware of the possibility of being/going red. We're not complete PKs, but we do what we need to survive and win.

Our stance towards other guilds depends largely on the political climate at the time, but aside from that it will be neutral. We are open to offers of Alliance, but we make our allies very, very carefully and here we make a distinction between 'Friends' and 'Allies'. If we do accept a guild as an Ally, they are as good as our Guild members. We will fight with you, defend you and back you up in every respect. Because of this, if we are betrayed by a Guild, being permanently on our KoS list will be the least of their concerns. We will do everything we can to see that guild broken.

Pvp is what we do. The best way to learn to be good at it, is to practise on your own and as a group. After launch, we will actively form groups and go out hunting for fights. We aim to be known as lethal group fighters. Your ability in pvp is the main thing you will be noted on. We don't mind you being inexperienced, but if you are poor then you will need to improve fast, we do not put up with dead weight. We need to be able to look left and right at the people we are fighting with, and have complete trust in their abilities in combat. This is something we do not request, we demand.

Crafters are very welcome in Pathfinders. We offer them a place to craft in the form of our city, a large group of fighters who are not only there for your protection, but are in need of their gear/potions etc being crafted/made. Also, for those true dedicated craters who put large amounts of effort into gathering for themselves etc and generally working hard at their profession, we will offer large amounts of materials from the guild bank with which to better yourself. Dedication is highly rewarded.

You look like you have the foundation of a solid clan. However, if you plan to avoid staying "under the radar" as you so nicely put it, how will you then maintain neutrality and still be active in the politics? Even a senator in Rome always picked a side to make their voices heard.

Just asking to bring some meaningful discussion into thread, and because your guild actually intrigued me, unlike most fresh guilds entering the scene nowadays.

I can't speak entirely accuratly on behalf of Pathfinder's leadership, however I will try and do my best to answer your valid question.

Essentially, Pathfinder's do not believe in getting ourselfves embroiled in a complex network of alliances, that often only coexist temporarily for their own narrow gains.

I personally believe being overly active in global politics is an unessasary approach. Pathfinders believe in building a close working alliance with a few select guilds which have common interests and goals, for security, trade and social benefits.

We will not be the type of guild that forms alliances with guilds on the other side of the map simply to build influence on global politics. In my opinion such influence can bring only war and strife. We will stick to local politics that actually benefit us and our allies.

We will send out emmisaries to foreign guilds to let them know of our honest intentions, and to hopefully form mutual friendship - but friendships is where that will end.

In this way, we will be known in the social and cultural scene, but 'under the radar' in the global political scene.

As for the Roman system of politics, we could'nt be more different. As much as I admire the achievements of the Roman Empire, their attempt at a working political system was disasterous, tyranny and oppression worked much better for them

I hope this answers as best as possible how I hope Pathfinders will work in practice.
