If you clicked on this link send it to 4 people now and your crush will kiss you. If you don't, your crush will still kiss you but they will give you mono and end up cheating on you. Actually that might happen either way. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE DESIRED RESULTS JUST KIDDING HERE'S THE THREAD WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL THREAD OF THE AWESOME GUILD THE KHALKAR BRIGANDS {We are currently recruiting pre-release members for this branch, post in this thread if interested or if you have questions.} There are 4 steps to being a Khalkar Brigand: and they are: 1. Have fun 2. Roleplay 3. Kill People (We suggest ingame only) 4. Repeat What is a Khalkar Brigand? 1. Khalkar is a made-up word, usually explained as Orcish or similar in origin, depending on the setting. It literally means "Brotherhood". Therefore, Khalkar Brigands means "Brotherhood of Brigands".2. brig·and (brĭg'ənd) n. A robber or bandit, especially one of an outlaw band. From 1&2 we determine that the Khalkar Brigands are a bunch of dirty lowlives who like to kill and steal, and then go hang out and have fun together. Preferably with some dirty lowlife women. BUT IT'S SO MUCH MORE! What do Khalkar Brigands do? Khalkar Brigands are members of an infamous group of sometime thieves, highway robbers, mercenaries, pirates, and pretty much whatever other occupation of questionable legality involving weapons and trickery you can think of. The Khalkar, while seemingly chaotic from an outsider's perspective, coordinates its activities with excellent teamwork. This is based on a very simple linear hierarchy enforced by guild leaders - a hierarchy which rewards members who make significant contributions, without making less active players feel low or left out. Who is this guild for? 1. RPers who prefer a "medium" RP intensity, or who are flexible. We do not accept "roleplayers" who constantly go OOC; nor do we accept RP elitists who want to complain about other peoples' RP all the time. 2. PvPers who do not have serious qualms about PKing. This is not a random PK guild, but we do not hold to any external "code of honor". We make our own rules. 3. Friendly people who like to have fun. This is not an elite powergaming guild. This is not a guild of people who harass other players. This is not a guild of people who play a game like it is a job. 4. Team-oriented players. This means we like to group and we tend to care more for helping each other than for our own grind to leetness. This includes taking time out to help new players and especially to do group events that everyone can participate in. What kind of Roleplay can I expect in the Khalkar? Khalkar roleplay generally has a bit of a gritty edge. The guild only accepts "tougher" races - ie, no Elf or Dwarf-like types. Your character can have whatever personality you want - just make sure he has some reason to roll with a bunch of criminal misfits! No huggy-snuggly or thee-thou stuff going on here. Don't even get us started on cybersex. There are several different kinds of RP we like to promote. 1. Character based: we encourage you to have a fully fleshed out character, who has a personal story and evolves over time. This is totally voluntary and everyone does it to a different extent. The minimum we ask is that you remain "in character" at all times in public chat (full chat rules will be made when more info comes from the devs) 2. Guild based. The Khalkar has its own story that is always evolving and changing. It is affected by things going on in the world and our relationships with other players and guilds. It is affected by the characters within the guild. The Khalkar has had internal (roleplayed) factions before and probably will again. The Khalkar has even been an autonomous faction within a larger guild. We are always looking for ways to make the guild more than just a tag next to your name. 3. Event based RP. The guild holds events OFTEN. These are usually not "stand around and BS for an hour before doing something" events. These are usually highly dynamic and lots of fun. They include: --3a. Storyline events. Events that have some purpose in progressing the story of the guild. These can be any number of things, usually involving some PvE objective or a PvP raid, that serves to further some storyline that the guild leaders are developing. --3b. Guild ceremonies. More on these when we put rank information up, but these have been one of the favorites of our members past and present. Usually consist of tests that, if passed, give the participants higher ranks in the guild. Usually multi-part quests given by the guild leaders. A past member put it best: "My pledge test made me feel like I had a real role and purpose in the guild. It gave me a reason to play that was way more fun than the ingame quests." --3c. Random events - such as tournaments, trade swaps, and PvP raids. We do these a lot and it always gives players a chance to get together and RP. --4. Grouping. We are especially excited to see a skill based game coming out. We are really looking forward to being able to have newer members hang with the older ones, without getting destroyed constantly like in WoW. Grouping in the Khalkar is practically constant and there is always RP going on. Whether PvE or PvP, the Khalkar always sticks together. If we have piqued your interest, please post here! Also check us out at http://www.khalkar.net/forum More information to come! Last edited by jdodger : 17th June 2008 at 20:21. |

Khalkar Brigands: Rank System As mentioned above, the Khalkar is organized by a simple, clear linear rank system. We do not have "Lawyer" ranks or a Guardian of the Royal Toilet. Everyone knows what rank they are, what responsibilities they have, and who they have to listen to when situations where orders are needed arise. The ranks, from lowest to highest, are: Scrap, Pledge, Blood, Captain, and Boss. 1. The Scrap Rank 1 -- “Scrap”: This is the initiate rank, considered to be someone who is testing out and being tested by the guild. For some people, Scrap will only be a cursory rank because they are already sure of their desire to join the guild as a full member. For others who are not as sure, the Scrap rank is intended to be a trial of sorts before they join as a fully committed member. There is no pressure to rush past Scrap rank. Scraps must follow the orders given by any higher-ranked Brigand. Scrap Roleplay: Scrap. It sounds somewhat demeaning, but tough at the same time: perfect for a low rank in a rough and tumble organization. The Scraps are the new recruits, generally considered “green” and not respected as highly as the “real members” of the guild. Scraps should expect to be kicked around a bit by the higher ranked members. Keep in mind this is only in-character and in no way should abuse continue to the OOC realm. Scrap promotion: Once the character and player are considered loyal enough to the guild and the player wants to make the guild his or her permanent home, a test is given to determine the ability to ascend to the next rank. This test is expected to be passed by anyone who has the desire to take it, and will be more intended as fun than to be terribly challenging. This is called a “Pledge Test” and can be administered by a Captain or a Blood. (see below for more info on these ranks) 2. The Pledge Rank 2 -- “Pledge”:Any member who has successfully passed the Pledge Test is now considered a Pledge. While scraps are guild members for game system purposes, they are not considered a permanent fixture. Second rank members, however, are considered to be permanent and reliable members of the guild. However, they are only higher on the totem pole than Scraps, and must follow the orders of all higher-ranked members. Pledges are the core members of the guild and will be the largest group within the guild over time. Pledge commitment: Any member who chooses to ascend to the Pledge rank should consider the Khalkar their permanent home. They will be given access to private guild forums, etc. However, should they leave or otherwise betray the guild this action will make them an in-character “traitor” and enemy of the guild, although exceptions will certainly be made. (Traitor status is almost never an issue, especially if the player leaves the guild on good terms. This is an RP convention that is only loosely applied.) Pledge roleplay: Once a Brigand has gained Pledge rank, they are now considered a permanent and respectable member of the brotherhood. They are expected to show the same loyalty and respect to the guild. Pledges are given some degree of control over scraps and may be asked to show the scraps some of the tricks of the trade. Pledges will also have the authority to run their own events and such if they choose; this is in fact encouraged and will often be required of a Pledge if they wish to progress to the leadership ranks of the guild. In general, the Pledges are the “average” Brigands and will have probably the fewest obligations to RP in a certain way. Pledge promotion: Captains will select certain Pledges to become Bloods at their discretion. The Blood rank is a prestigious position and should be strived for by every Pledge through hard work and dedication even though the majority of Pledges may not reach this rank. Pledges can prove their worth through skill in a certain field, by running events, by helping to train scraps, or any other number of ways. Once selected as a Blood candidate, the Pledge in question will undergo a series of tests much more difficult than the Pledge Test. A Blooding will be a long and hard test or series of tests made to prove a Pledge's real worth. Whereas all Scraps are expected to pass the Pledge Test, not all Pledges will pass the test to become a Blood. 3. The Blood Rank 3 -- “Blood”:Long term members who have proven their worth consistently and have had a positive impact on the guild through leadership, events, PvP skill, etc. This should be considered an honored position and not all Second rank members will attain it, although all will have the opportunity. This rank will have the opportunity to be delegated with more responsibilities and leadership and given more rewards. These will be expected to remain with the guild for the long haul, and are in fact considered to be the lower rank of the guild’s leadership. Bloods are expected to be effective leaders and help as well as give orders to Scraps and Pledges. Bloods will have authority over all but Captains in their field of expertise and will often be expected to lead various events, raids and groups. Bloods will be largely autonomous and are not expected to need a Captain's approval for all their actions, although they will defer authority to a Captain if any case which calls for a Captain's leadership arises. Blood roleplay: Bloods are the lower ranked officers of the guild, and are expected to be examples of good roleplay. They are expected to be able to handle themselves as leaders even in high-pressure situations. They are also expected to help develop and lead events and storylines as the guild grows. Blood promotion: Any Captains that may be chosen beyond the guild founders will be drawn from the Bloods. This will not require a test, but there will be a method of preparation for the position. (3.5) The Blood-Guard Rank 3.5 -- “Blood Guards”:A cyclical position, 2 Blood Guards will be chosen from among the Bloods by every Boss at the beginning of their term. Blood Guards will be considered honorary Captains and will be expected to attend Captains' councils. They will have no more authority than a normal Blood and will only "sit in" on Captains' meetings to basically learn how to be a Captain by observation. Once the term of the Boss who chose them is over, they will go back to being normal Bloods unless selected again by the incoming Boss. Bloods who are chosen to be Captains must have been a successful Blood Guard at some point in order to be considered. Any Blood who is chosen as a Blood Guard should be considered a potential candidate for the Captain position at some point in the future. This is a serious honor. Blood-guard roleplay: Blood-guards are expected to attend Captain's Councils as well as serve as personal guards or advisors to the Boss that selected them. Any character selected as a Blood Guard should be highly honored and fiercely loyal to the Boss. 4. Captains Rank 4 -- “Captains”:The leadership council of the guild. Initially will be composed of the Guild/branch founders, but depending on how large the Brigands become, more Captains may be added. Captain positions may be filled for this branch by pre-release recruits. As discussed, Captains added at a later time will be chosen from among the Bloods who have served as Blood Guards. Captains will have authority over all other guild members. Captains' councils will be regularly held to discuss important issues and make decisions that will affect the course of the guild's development. They will also be responsible for choosing Blood candidates from among the Pledges and administering Blooding tests. Captain roleplay: Captains are the upper level of guild leadership and are expected to be shining examples of RP as well as leaders in many ways. Captains are the primary group responsible for advancing the larger guild storylines. 5. The Boss Rank 5 -- “Boss”:The leader of the Captains' Council. The Boss will have the authority to choose their Blood Guards each term, and the authority to break stalemates in the Council and make decisions that must be made quickly. They will also be responsible for handling wars and diplomacy (unless they choose to delegate those responsibilities to other Captains). Otherwise they have no extra authority over their fellow Captains and are regular members of the Council. As mentioned above the Boss rank will be a cyclical position which is taken in turns by Captains. The maximum term is one month, unless an extension is voted for in the Council under special circumstances. If such a vote is taken the Boss cannot break a stalemate; if the vote is stalemated the motion to extend the Boss' term is considered failed. A Boss must be able to serve at least the first two weeks of their term. If a Boss cannot serve the beginning of their term, the position will skip them and pass on to the next Captain in the order. It's pointless to have someone be Boss for a week or a few days just to pass it on to the next guy. Similarly, under special circumstances a Boss may need to shorten their term. For example if a Boss will be unable to log on much during the third week of their term, they should serve two weeks and then pass the position on to the next Captain in the order. A new Captain cannot become Boss until they have been a Captain for a full cycle, ie. the Boss position will skip them when they are first supposed to serve it, and they will be the last Captain in the cycle. You have like a classic SB sig except even more ghetto.
This might even be more ghetto than your old Mourning sigs. And is this BAD ASSS in the Sweet Sweetback sense?
