What do you say about durability of armor and weapon affect its graphics and use.
Like a robe being torn or a rusty armor. Not as sharp sword as when made and stuff like that. Comment on it I would really like the idea to be fulfiled. |

That would be interesting indeed.
But it would be realy hard work for the artists, not to mention the probable impact on GPU usage, especially if you want this for every character on screen and not just yours. |

LOTS of work to be done if armor has chipping and breaking animations and all sorts of stuff like that with weapons too!? I wouldn't want to be a dev making that too much work for me.

Although it would be beautiful, this game will be ram and graphics intensive as is, and although I hate to say it I'd rather see this feature hit the curb before any of the others they have. If nothing else to lessen lag Sure it'd be beautiful and realistic, but seriously think of the computing power it'd waste.

Having such a feature in the game would indeed be a feat worth a song or two! Even if made at a very simple level.

on a very simple level... isn't that just like having multiply skins for each item at different stages of wear & tear? i suppose people will complain that this means less items in total, i still like it though.

Well sense it wouldnt take much other than graphics proccessing.. perhaps if it was an option that could be turned on and off so that those that dont spend money for the latest video card don't have to worry about it.

you guys are asking for way too much. the stress that something like this would cause would be unbelievable. the devs would have to create code for every piece of armor, weapon, robe, etc...so that wear and tear would show up on the equipment on screen and everyone else would be able to see it. sounds awesome in theory, but no way to actually implement something that involved using today's technology. the stress on computers would be outrageous. heck, i'd love to see characters age as they were played, scars show up from battles and every other juicy realistic tidbit you could think of. however, it's not really feasible.

it's not like anyone suggesting here procedural rust, it's just an extra couple of textures per item.

in another forum someone was talking about 16,500 types of armor... Now five different styles for each of those, means the devs would have to program, and the artists design, 82,500 different models just for armor. I'd rather have a lot of different types of armor than see them get worn myself.

Imagine for example making a picture in PS and making one red contrasted one blue one b/w one greend and one colorish... Doesnt take as much time as drawing/making the picture |
