Default multi-guilds

It would be nice if your guild name (WAS NOT) displayed or you have the option to not display. (To take is a step further, choose which one to dispay)

The reason: It would be nice to join more than one guild and keep it to yourself. Like in RL, nothing stop you from joining more than one org., even if they have oposing views, nothing stops you from being a spy, etc. Allow the chaos makers to do their thing and force guild to be careful who they promote.

Additionally, it allows us extreme players to participate in multiple raid groups without having to jump guilds or constantly having opposing guilds begging us to switch over just becasue we have relations on the side.

allow any type of dynamics between guilds that you want, but open up what a player can do personally as well. Forge you own way!!!

of course if you are in multiple guilds and there is a guild tax, be prepared to pay taxes for every guild you belong to. (Deception could be exspensive if you are in many guilds.)

let me exspand on one thing though, if you have guild tax, just make it a tax on money dropped from kills. Don't tax the broker/trader. That could WAY unbalance things.

also with the idea of multiple guild and multiple taxing due to this, once you got to a certian point, if you were in a lot of guilds, 100% of dropped money would just be divided up between any guilds with an implemented tax system.

Rather than posting guild name, just flag a members name with an icon when you see him is he is a member of your guild. This way people know you are or aren't a part of their orginization only. The general public doesn't know who you belong to unless you are displaying your colors (i.e. cloak)

I doubt there will be a system controlled guild tax. If a guild wishes to impose a tax, I'm sure it will be player controlled.

I don't know about joining multiple guilds. I suppose there is nothing wrong with it, only your loyalty will be in question if you are in multiple guilds. There should be a method for people to determine what guild someone is in. Often joining a guild involves signing a charter or something that publicly displays your loyalty.

then what if they had guilds and secret societies. (quasi -guilds)

The societies would be like guilds, only not public.

To be honest, I didn't read the entire OP. Mostly because I don't think it's necessary to have a system for this type of proposal. If you want to be in some sort of secret group, or multiple guilds, you don't have to actually be on the roster. If you plan on having it be a secret, why would you want there to be a possibility of it being known? You should want to be off the grid, so to speak, so you wouldn't need to be an official member.

If you wanted to be one of these people, it's quite possible in any guild system already implemented in msot games to do this already. One of these "Double Agent" type players will probably be very well organized, and will be able to keep track of everything that a system like this would, only they would do it alone. A system designed about this would basically take the organization out of the players hands, allowing disorganized people to take power that shouldn't be available to them. Something like this shouldn't be advertised or even put in place, it should be up to the player, and a rare occurence.

EDIT: The best way to have a secret society, is to have it unofficially exist. If you actually have a guild tag, despite it being invisible, the guild still exists and would be able to be discovered.

And what about mergers say you want a guild the guild leaders agree to a winner take all war.. since one guild is close to breaking up any ho, they go to war and the winner takes their guild and move all of their people into yours and you get their keep ect.. Like Nvidia did with Physix just gobble them up

Like KroqGar said, just don't officially join anything. Instead of signing something and having a tag, just get your guys to meet up somewhere and discuss whatever you want to discuss. Keep it low profile and make sure you trust those in your group and you have your own secret society.
