I'm just wondering, at this point in time, how many people plan to play a combat or a non-combat type of character in Mortal Online. I realize that most, if not all, players will use a combination of combat and non-combat skills, but I'm wondering what you will play as primarily (or at least, which you are most interested in playing as of right now). By combat, I mean swordsmanship, magery, healing (since it is directly involved with combat), archery, and any other skillset/class that is directly related to pvp or pve. By non-combat, I mean anything from mining, lumberjacking, tinkering, alchemy, blacksmithing, cartography, etc. (anything not directly related to pvp or pve).

It would definately be fun to be a weaponsmith if the crafting system allows for unique (not meaning uber) items. But I would absolutely have more fun using weapons I created versus using weapons I didn't create, but then have less fun just creating weapons versus just using weapons.....does that make sense?

My main character will probably be a crafter and explorer more than anything, so I will probably have to make a different character for some good combat. (Both)
I'm guessing the only ones who will vote honestly on this poll are combat voters, which might not make a character to do other things with.

My main character will most definitely not be combat-oriented... I will be focusing fully on diplomatic and architectural things with him. Also, if there are "hirable NPCs" (I haven't read anything on this...there's so much to read, so I apologize if I missed it), this character will "own" and "use" many of them to build and monopolize - or at least in theory.
Of course, even though that will be the focus, I will have to shed some blood to get things done, as well as get money...which will probably involve raiding other people's cities/towns and NPCs. So yes, now that I truly think it out, while I will be focusing on non-combat, I will certainly have a plethora of combat behind me; perhaps my Deva will consist of three characters, that "general-like" character described above, a full-out warrior and a hybrid architect/mason sort of person. That would work out nicely, I'd imagine. This is an interesting discussion, for it shows a lot of potential this "free and open world" has. |

I play MMOs to kill people firstly, and kill things (NPCs) secondly. Combat is therefore my choice.
Having said that, I'll definitely have a mule/crafter in the goodness of time, as having those economical skills at my disposal will feed directly back into the ease and efficiency of playing combat-centric characters. |

I am not really that interested in PvP. I plan to avoid it as much a possible. I plan to create a leatherworker/armorer. He will be a tailor as well if it is a prereq like I expect it to be.
Joining a player city that wants peaceful trade relations with their neighbors and not to make war with their neighbors will be one of my main goals. |

I vote combat but i love non-combat classes.
I like interac with blacksmith looking for some stuff, and giving them some ressource. SWG is one of the best MMO (before NGE) beaucause the community interact for making weapon, for rest with Dancer, for healing wounds with medic, for trading ressource with hunter and other combat class. |

Greetings,
Imo, there needs to be non-combat classes and combat classes, if many people want a player driven economy. There are players out there that want to do the trader aspect. Why does killing monsters and grabbing fat loots make you level up? Why not have a mechanic to level you as a trader, crafter, merchant? Isn't that a huge aspect that mmos have yet to solidly hit the mark on? Why not allow people to become tycoons of the leather industry on a server? Allow people to shape their world. Just remember, a merchant is a lot more menacing when they drive hard bargins with guys behind them in armor and swords. - Hel |

wow, i didn't realize so many people weren't interested in combat. although, i guess given a game like MO, with its player driven economy, there is much more opportunity for such players.
i'm combat, for sure. i'd like to do both, but i would mostly delve into the non-combat aspect of the game just to improve my combat somehow (make weapons, potions, etc. for myself).

Lots of non-combat indeed. but forums are always just a small portion of the final player base in MMOs.
Non combat for me as well, will try to get into crafting deep, and establish a profitable business, as well as join a serious guild and provide them with my goods, having a place to call home. I really like the idea of having just one character by the way, but that's just talk without meaning for MO, since these things are already decided and are part of the basic features of this game. |

First I will be roleplayer Paladin, saving the world from foul beasts and making a crusades (that means Combat). If I will have free space for skills, I wll take some social skills. If I dont have them, I will play as paladin for some time and maybe later will retire from my adventures and will create my city, farm, tavern... Depends how deep will social game in MO will be.
P.S. I will not be a Blacksmith.

Definitely depends on how developed non-combat options are, as well as on how the social aspect develops. I will likely primarily be drawn to a more combat and exploration-oriented character, not necessarily PvP-centric, but certainly not opposed to it.
If there is a sufficiently developed role-play environment, I would be more apt to turn to something like musicianship or a similar skill. While I am not generally drawn to crafting other than as a means of garnering quick cash, if the crafting system is interesting and complex I might actually become more focused on that aspect.
