One thing I love about some MMO's is the ability to customize the user interface to fit the comfort of the player. Im not talking about just to be able to rearrange how the default one is setup. but maybe to be able to customize it with our own graphics aswell so maybe the look the minimap would be different for example.
I for one find that every MMO I have played the default UI is always to cluttered. there is to much artwork. I like it nice and simple. being able to customize this would be amazing. |

I'm a bit divided on this matter. I think the way WoW implemented the first well customizable UI in an MMO was great. Blizzard makes their own scripts for these things, and their editors and customizability in most games are simply superior. I'm not sure if AoC and WAR has/will copy this feature, but I can definately say that it adds to the game. Being able to fit the UI to your own playstyle.
On the other side of the discussion, there are a lot of borderline cheat addons being made. They're not considered cheating, because the script does allow them to be used, but they do give a major advantage over people without these addons. I try to not use such addons simply because of how I feel about them. WoW did good in incorporating some of the more popular "necessary" addons into the standard UI, however. Some examples of unfair addons from WoW are CTmod (raid; frames with all health/mana bars), Bossmods (boss; warning messages telling you what skills it's using), Proximo (arena; tells you everything about the opposing team), Cosmos (map; gives exact coordinates), etc.I think that if UI customization is possible, it should be very limited. Mainly just allow the frames to be changed and moved around. Nothing advanced that shows things that are not available to the player who doesn't customize much.

Like roques in WoW, every ability used is displayed as a timer on your target so even a monkey can play the class...the game should be about skill not about who can code the "best" mod.
Make the UI support the game not play it for you.

I'm the kind who modifies his UI to be the most efficient possible.
But, in a First-Person View game, I'm guessing we won't have much UI to customize . There'll be nothing to click 97% of the time, the other 3% being those game menus that'll make you unable to move/vulnerable. Having only a few UI elements also means it's easier for the devs to allow UI customization, though.

Ah that UI Customizer from WAR looks really nice
Most the time on a FPS game I just want to have more view so I don't miss anything, while at the same time not missing anything important displayed on my UI (like what gun I'm using, ammo, etc.) |

Custom UI's are nice. And that's custom as in being able to move things around or hide what I don't want. I'm generally for minimal interface, but being able to move things around is nice too.
