see...that's just it - it won't make the game item centric, or take away the skill...these "Champions" would be extremely rare, but would be incredibly powerful.

We're propably looking at maybe 4-6 of these items a year. I just think it would be a nice twist, and the one wielding the item, would have a tough time with the assassins.

It's kinda like a multiplayer mode called "Hunt" (or something like that). One is the prey, the others are the hunters. The hunter that kills the prey, becomes the prey. The one that has spent the most time as prey when the time runs out, wins.

My twist cuts off the last bit of that mode, and lets it run in a continuous cycle.

The game would never become item centric this way. Think of a Titan class ship in EVE - it's that kind of rarity.

And after maybe 3 months, the item would be broken and useless, and you might as well destroy it - or use the powerless weapon as a standard weapon - but with the cool design!
