Default Pimp your Personality... PvP rankings for MO

Several People said they want Hardcore PvP here,
I'm almost sure that 90% of people who are saying this
are totally bullshit noobs who want to pwn but actually don't.

How I come to this?
Well, lets say the level of personal experience I have is greater then
the 90% of people who are actually talking this bullshit, in other Words:
I smell noobshit from 10miles against the wind.

Now the actual idea of the Tread:

I'm not playing with noobs and wannabe's in whatever games, the main
reason why people like me prefer a GuildWars PvP System (You just see who is
shit and who not).

Now to prevent that the shit players are playing with progamers (not
powergamers!),
a game needs to clarify and clearly state to anyone and everyone who is
pwnage and who is noobsausage.

Now what I suggest is like:

Lets say a group of Players are forming a Team with like 8 Players.
Now each k/d of that group is being counted and calculated over a period
of time (Seasons/Month).

The K/D ratio depends on how many Kills each one of your Team is making
in the actual Season, no matter where, no matter who and no matter
when.

Now lets say the 50 best ratio Teams in the actual Season are playing
against each other at the end of that season in a K.O System with Finals.

The team winning this Tournament gets a Gold Cape with their Logo
forever.

The teams placing 2-5th best Teams are getting Silver Cape for the next
Season and loose them if they don't place in the best rankings again.

The teams placing from 5th to 10th Place are getting Bronze Cape, same as
above.

(Optional)
Then we could make like Special marks for individual Players who:

Made the most damage during the Tournament
Made the most healing during the Tournament
Made the most last strikes during the Tournament
etc...

For each Win in those Battles you get Fame Points which grants ranks and
with a certain amount of ranks you get special /emotes just like in GW.

Oh and PvP Stats need to be visible for everyone if needed to, cause of
skillfakerz. To fit in MO make a tradable Scroll Item where the Information
about the individual Player are displayed (Kills/Deaths/Points etc...)

Oh and in addition to all this, display the winners and the whole stats about
season fights on the official Website, this makes sponsoring attractive and
with this, it makes the game attractive for people like me. and of course
the game gets more popularity and much more interest as without what I
posted. (All the MMO Sites posting News about Team XYZ won against
Team ZYX, matches of best Teams displayed on Youtube/Myspace
Video/Gamerscam) etc...

eSports are getting more important with each Year, why not Mortal Online...

with full loot and ffa pvp, the carebears will probably clear out real quick, so i don't think you'll have to worry much.

as far as your pvp suggestions go... they all sound rather instanced to me. an 8v8 tourney? this isn't guildwars we're talking about here, this is real-time, uninstanced world pvp. don't get me wrong, guild wars pvp is fine for what it is, but i'm saying that isn't what MO is.

now, the k/d ratios seems really pointless in a game like MO. you shouldn't need to display you're rank/scores to people for them to know you're good. you should be good enough that your reputation precedes you, and people know you're good by watching you play, not by seeing some numbers attatched to your character info. and with MO's world pvp, you'll end up getting killshot whores and gankers just looking to exploit the system as much as they can to up their k/d ratio and feed their epeens a little more.

your ideas for having rewards likes special colored capes and emotes..?? that all sounds extremely trammie, and they just don't belong in MO. just hearing some of these suggestions gives me chills and immediately makes me think of WoW pvp.

i understand you want to prove to everyone that you're "hardcore" (apparently so much so, you'd create a thread about it), but if you're really as hardcore as you seem to think you are, you'd know that gimmicks like that are pointless and any real pvper will know who you are if you're good enough.

Blade what you are asking is instanced esport!
Maybe you dont know what a Sandbox game is all about! If you want that play Guildwars like you mentioned! If you want hardcore meaningful PvP where you can loose all your belongings than come to Mortal online!

its a very diffrent thing, both are fun but DIFFRENT!

If you still want Sandbox and an indicator to see who is good at PvP and who isnt, read the Perma Death thread: There is a discussion for a highlander System where you go up in ranks by killing other players! Its 1on1 not 8vs8 - cause quite frankly: in a group, good players carry worse players! Even in 2vs2 there is always one that is better than his teammate! Real skill will visible in 1on1!
Statistics like Kill Death ratio? I have nothing against it! Would actually be the easies implementation of what your asking for and everybody can see what his opponets history is...

And about your comment of many noobs in these forums... sure there will always be noobs here but we have lots and lots of PvP veterans, especially from the good old UO days! And we are here to make sure this game will deliver on its promise and not get watered down by the noobs that want it to be another Themepark! And quite frankly, asking for instanced PvP like you do - makes you sound like one of them!

PvP "rankings" shouldn't be programmed into the game, rather, they should be metagame information only.

As for instanced PvP? No.

K/D ratios (outside of controlled combat) can be manipulated easily, mainly by killing scrubs or killing characters when they're low health.

exactly. k/d ratios work in a game with organized pvp only, but in a sandbox game with ffa pvp in an open world, it would just turn pvp into a grindfest to get your k/d ratio as high as possible (and there would ofc be those people who gank their alts to get their ratio up).

blade, you seem like your trying to compensate for something just by creating this thread, and after reading some of your other posts (defending random crits based on LUCK!), i seriously doubt your the 'hardcore' gamer you seem to think you are. maybe in GW you are, but in a game with real pvp like MO, you'll probably end up being in that 90% of "bullshit noobs" who talk big, but can't back it up.

Adding any kind of numbers to PVP will always be exploitable and exploited, especially if there's rewards involved. Win-trading, fight clubs, eww...

eSports, no thanks.

(oh well... maybe some kind of numbers are OK, like maybe K/D-ratio or something - it shouldn't harm the game if ePeen-swingers have something concrete they can measure - just don't include any kind of rewards.)

I've got to agree with Lachrymose about your suggestion, I abhored when games would post the top PvPers according to stats and statistics, because it was so easily exploited. I've PvPed a few of those top people on a few private servers, and to be frank, they sucked it up pretty bad, what I'm getting at, is that people would gank other people with a 2v1 strategy, or duel noobs half their level just to get their ranking up.

And in my opinion, earning the reputation of being good has always given me more satisfaction than having it given to me from my statistics.

With the picture of some teenager's abs and the addition of this guy's attitude I couldn't help but laugh at him calling himself a super hardcore pvper in... Guildwars.

Oh man it's so hard to have the same skillset as every other character out there.

Blade, when I was reading your post i had flash backs of playing WOW and GW, I've had much fun with both games. Some people in the community can become very sensitive when posters suggest influence's from specific features of certain games because they are hoping, no, they are praying and chanting endless mantra to the gods of the geeks that MO will be completely different from the cookie cutter mold(s) you suggest.

I say walk softly but carry a big stick... let your necklace of ears or teeth or the bounty on your head state how l33t you are and if the noobs still want to bring it on then hit them over the head with that stick, take their gear and then laugh at there noobness.

Adolescent or not, If i had abs like his i'd probably want to show them off too.

Dude, you know shit about what's hardcore in this genre.. go play 8v8 in some carebear premade instance and think you are pro, rofl.

And why not Mortal Online? Because some ppl want to play real MMO..
And this is the place to do it. I can only hope that Starvault will prove themselfs incorruptible to your cancer. Go spread your aids in some theme park MMO forum, you can do much there.

Just when I was expecting to hear some pwnage from AC: Darktide or Shadowbane, I got to this line and stopped reading. Yet another theme park pr0 coming to these forums with awesome FPS like ideas about the PvP in MO. Too bad that in sandbox games you don't need fictional PvP and ranklist systems to see who delivers pain.
