Has anyone ever played Magic: The Gathering?
It's a incredible trading card game that has incredibly unique, creative, and complex spells to cast and abilities to use. If you've ever played this game, you know what I'm talking about. I say my dream would be skills "nearly" as complex and creative as Magic because I know it's A LOT easier to type it out on a trading card than implement it into a virtual world. However, how close does this game come to this? Will the skills and abilities go beyond simple "x amount of damage" -- "x amount of damage over x amount of time" -- "root" -- etc? I know not much is known of the game, so if you don't know (assuming ANY one knows besides the devs) feel free just to voice your opinion on this topic. |

Played tons of MtG when i was younger. Very nice game. Like it alot though there are soem combos that are just way way way to insane and witht the amount of cards that excists its not an suprise. Played from 4th edition for a few years.
MtG spellsystem with Guildwars mana system wounds sounds like a nice combo though probobly becouse i one of the pet players. Becouse i guess MtG's mana system is kinda hard to replicate into the virtual world. Though i could think if a few solutions for that one too. =) |

Here you go, basic mtg rules: http://www.wizards.com/magic/rules/M...ook_10E_EN.pdf
I was thinking of getting a new mtg deck recently since I sold my old one few years ago, meh now I think it was a shame I sold it. If your thinking about different colours of mana the idea it self aint bad as far as I remember there were some other games trying to do something simmilar. It may be intresting to see some kind of mana burn, wich in mtg occurs when you spend more mana than your spells require the exceeding amount burns you.

I played MtG a bunch when I was much younger. I still have my decks sitting in my closet (which my wife makes fun of me for).
I'd be nice to see weird complex spells definitely, but how easy it would be to implement, and how hard it would take to balance, I've no idea. I agree with lokius, that the same mana color system with mana burn MtG had would be interesting to see in an MMO. |
