One thing I like in DAOC is PvP level, when your skill tree is finished you can always make your character progress without stuff grinding (i hope for full lootable in PvP anhilating PvE stuff bashing).
PvP level give access to some PvP skill, and Stats improvement fro example. I look for the forum and site and I don't see If PvP levels will be in Mortal Online. What do you think Of PvP level. Last edited by Hypnos : 19th August 2008 at 15:02. |

I don't like pvp leveling. It just seems like a lousy way of adding levels and gaining an advantage over other players.
Regular tournament pvp would be pretty good where the champion gets some fancy pvp gear but world pvp should only gain you some looted gear and increase your actual skills at playing the game, no artificial buffs. |

No levels plox!
Not much to add ihmo. There won't wont be levels in MO, and having separate levels is even dumber if you ask me. Where's the logic here? If it doesn't kill me it makes me stronger be it pvp or pve. (sometimes even if it kills me in MMOs)

i'm w/ lokius and niblick on this one. no pvp lvlz pl0x!!
they just wouldn't be necessary. there's no levels in MO for a reason, so there shouldn't be pvp levels for the same reasons.

One more post here for no PvP levels.
I would much prefer to have some sort of visible trophy system to show how uber you are. (like a necklace made of fingers or noses hanging down on a string from your shield, or a cape made from scalps). God I'm a morbid bastard.

Okay, I can see your "drift". Not in Mortal Online, but the concept is a good one...but not for Mortal Online.
I would, however...if DONE CORRECTLY...would be for "PvP skills" - which thusly can be "leveled up" just like any other "skill". The quotations all represent things that have somewhat arbitrary meanings and also are theoritical...they sound good in my head but I've hardly thought it out fully. Maybe just certain abilities, skills and feats of strength that can be progressed only via PvP...giving advantages in the PvP realm... Other than "that" idea (--^), I really am against "levels" of any "kind". (Okay, "kind" didn't need to have quotation marks, but it was getting real fun to read it like that. Yep.

I imagine in a sand-box MMO, your PvP rank would be your infamy among the other Players, not some score or title.
PvP Ranks/Points = useless.

Okno level but, there are skill based in MO, why not PvP skill based, like you can up you skill on PvE, why you don't up other skill on PvP? MO is a PvP game it must have PvP skills evolutions. With some Title/Rank and Skill like bonus for Captain who can lead group 4% damage on assist him or something like that. Everybody know today for attrack and keep player on aMMORPG they need End Game content and Higth End Game chartacter évolution. -In PvE based MMO like WoW or EQ is Stuff based evolution and level based evolution. -On PvP based game must me different, PvP players don't like stuff based evolution (on fully lootable PvP server is logical), well i think PvP bonus will be necessary if devs forget it, just some coreplayer keep ingame after somes month. And for me isn't fun when a game miss player, and for devs to, no players no money, no money no patch evolution, and and lack of player = no epic battle. @Hypnos, I got a feeling you didn't try to read my whole post (wich wasn't too long).
I said that it doesn't matter if its pvp or pve. If I'm using a sword, I expect my sword skill to rise no matter if I'm fighting a player or a mob. So basicly for me its out of disscusion that pvp should make you stronger, I guess most of us are tired of mindless grinding. Still im agaist separate skills that could rise only in pvp.

So, no Skill Levels? So, you want everyone to be the same?

The levels would emerge by word of mouth; if you want to be the best, just kill enough people here and there... I am sure people will start taking notice if the blood on your armor never dries up...

What if the entire game world is the PvP level? See someone you don't like? Stick an axe inbetween their eyes...
Some one loot you? Kill them... Want to know if you are the best? Organize a tournament in a tavern... also, The ranks would emerge by word of mouth; if you want to be the best, just kill enough people here and there... I am sure people will start taking notice if the blood on your armor never dries up... So it is all up to you, how you want to play the game, nothing to guide you but your own will... |

I also voted no for all the same reason the no voters mentioned above. Mortal Online is a grindless sandbox MMO which is totally based on skill. It's this philosophy that separates it from 99% of all the other current MMO's on the market today.
I'm not saying anyone in this thread is at fault, but a lot of today's new gamers (I am one but I don't think this way) are so use to level/grind based MMO's they freak out when something like Mortal Online comes along. I guess they come to the quick conclusion that if there are no levels then what's the point in playing, because they have nothing to base their time spent playing against or to visually see for themselves what level distinguishes them from other players. I've started to see more posts emerge on the forums asking for WoW like features. I personally feel it's our responsibility as a community not to flame, but to help educate these new gamers who are locked into the WoW mentality about the benefits of an open ended, grindless, sandbox MMO. And why stop with just these forums? If we see other posts on the various MMO communities we're a part of around the internet, lets lead by example and show them the sand is always yellower on the other side. |

please no levels for PvP, if there is to be something like that, I suppose I wouldnt mind something like levels in a Gladiator type arena where there is a ranking system of who is a strong gladiator etc.....oh and no instance arena crap, please if there is arenas make it one hwere there can be fans, or we can just go hang out and watch the gladitors fight, maybe make bets, kind like going to the horse races but instead we watch the gladiators chop off each others head
