A) I’d like to see mobs that migrate/move from “zone” to “zone” and treasures that show up in truly random places so that walkthroughs on “how to find the most powerful weapon in the game” won’t be made. What are your plans on mobs and treasure in that respect?
B) I read about killing (and eating) mounts. If you can kill anything, can you destroy anything? It would be an interesting feature to see towns destroyed and rebuilt (carpenter class?). It would certainly aid depth to town raids. Comments? C) NPCs are generally scripted but having them move around, take vacations, go on journeys, etc can also reduce predictability in the game. Any plans for these ideas? Soapbox: Overall playing WoW was disappointing in two ways. 1) Finding 80 page guides on "go here, do this quest, buy this, repeat." 2) Grinding and battles were the same and weren't based on skills but rather jamming 1 through 0 on the keyboard. Reading the developer comments and FAQs I see the difference between thrill ride games and sandboxes and I see that my second concern is alleviated but I'd still like to hear more about the game dynamics based on the questions above. Thanks! Keep up the great work. This is the first MMORPG that has excited me in years and years! |

a) i'd really like to see npc mobs that migrate as well, but so far we don't know. some of the best items in the game will be crafted, which means that if you kill a powerful creature, it won't drop a weapon since there will only be "realistic" drops (the devs said bears won't drop gold and dragons won't drop swords, for example). however, that doesn't mean that killing powerful creatures goes unrewarded, since the "ingredients" for these powerful weapons will most likely come from these powerful creatures. as far as items being hidden somewhere randomly, we don't know but i kinda doubt it.
b) it will be possible to build cities, so it only makes sense if you can also destroy them, however we don't really know much about this at the moment. seiging will most likely be in (that's much guess anyway), and seiging wouldn't be much fun unless you could actually destroy things. i guess we'll have to wait and see. c) i wouldn't expect the npc's to be too dynamic. keep in mind, MO is a PvP based game, so most likely npc's won't really play a huge role in the game. would you rather the devs spend their time making npc's very realistic, or would you rather them spend their time adding features to further develop the interaction between real players? 1) don't worry about what you experienced in WoW.. MO will be much more dynamic, so you won't be seeing things like "go here, do this, turn in this quest, you should be lvl 155 now!" everyone will have a different experience and you'll begin playing when you first start the game. you basically just play the game, and as you play, the skills you use most will naturally improve. 2) there won't be long grinds to arbitrary level caps, etc. and since MO has collision based combat, you won't just be mashing buttons 1-9 til your opponent is dead, there will be much more skill involved such as dodging, manual blocking, aiming, etc. hope this gives you an idea of what to expect. welcome to the community!
