How about a demon race? Basically humans but with a twist, like a visual hybrid between vampires and werewolves(without the fur). Something like this:

They should be given facial customization options. Their "disfigured" bodies should remain the same with the addition of fangs as teeth and their feet should resemble their hands.
There shouldn't be more than 6 playable races or so anyway. After awhile they become underdeveloped and it becomes obvious that devs are grasping at straws. It's also time-consuming to create custom armors for races that aren't humanoid. I'd be satisfied with less than 6 playable races if that meant their backstories were more thought out and we were given more armors. Star Vault can always make NPC races into PC races at a later date.
