Honestly, even in the MMO with the fastest ingame time:real time ratio, it will take more time for your character to die from old age than the lifespan of the game itself. Even in dog years.

Okay. Say that is true. Then what would be the point of having a death by age system? If your character never would reach his/her death via age then why even worry about implementing a system that takes it into account?

if days go on a 6:1 game-day to irl-day ratio, then every year, your character would have aged 6 years. assuming you start out as 18 years old (which is still somewhat old) and die at 40, it would take almost 4 years before your character dies. they could speed it up and have you age 10x faster or something... if PD was implemented, i suppose it could be an interesting feature, but i still wouldn't really care if it was in or not. on a non-PD server, i wouldn't see much point at all.

I think your opinion deserves very little respect. Bah... go to another thread if you don't like the discussion because you are definitely not adding any value here.

actually that is because aging is a common thing in MUDs and their was already a game meant to be built around a bloodline system - i didn't like it since it was PD+aging+heredity and I'm not a fan of heredity - but the systems where there, and was canceled due to bad business, bad investments, bad leadership, etc', but not bad game design.

1) thanks
2) back to the topic of "character life" system design, i get PD alone & i get PD+aging & PD+aging+heredilty, as i have being looking at it from the point of view of a PD-proponent, but i am still not entirely sure i understand aging by it's own without PD: how would that influence player behavior? interaction? experience? the gaming world? i'm not sure i'm clear on what the aging vision is.
