I am a fairly shallow person when it comes to graphics and anims, the more beautiful the little details and the fluff, the more i can get into a game. Sure gameplay is right up there it really is but a game for me is made more than tenfold better by fluff.
Something i would like to see is very very detailed and beautiful spell animation, not just crappy fireblasts and silly swirling lines. Really smooth anims that give a real "life" to spells. For a game (judging by the teaser) that looks so beautiful (man i loved the walls for example, so gritty and real) i would hope this is some sort of priority. Thanks for listening. |

good animations and graphics are great, and i can't imagine anyone would say they don't want them if given the option. the only problem is, with a game like MO, with it's siege warfare and hundred man battles, there has to be some kind of balance. it will be extremely difficult (and probably impossible) to have beautiful animations/graphics while so many people are fighting all at once. amazing spell animations would be great, but if it means i'm going to have to watch a beautiful looking fireball fly at me at 5 fps, i don't think i'm going to be very happy...

It is so hard to find a game with good graphics that doesnt lag you to hell. I bought new comp for AOC only to be sorely disappointed because their graphics engine sucked. It seems cartoon graphics are what is the case for any game these days to run semi decent. Hopefully MO wont follow that same path.

I think I'd like to see some minimal spell graphics. Why? Well, if this is going to be realistic then (aside from the fact that nobody I know can really throw a fireball) then would you really want the guy to know that you were about to blast him with a fireball?
Not that the minimal graphics shouldn't look good but they should be kind of low key so as not to telegraph your victims doom to him prior to that doom being unleased. |

In my opinion i think the devs will make it so the graphics are as best they cna be in every aspect BUT with an option under something like the "graphics tab" in the options menu to change it from High Detail to a lower detail or to dim it down a bit like most other MMORPG's out there.
But yea, graphics is one of the main concerns for me in a game VERY VERY close 2nd is gameplay, the ONLY games i play now days are X-Box 360 games and 12 Sky MMO (cause 12 Sky has good gameplay and descent graphics)

zekemorgan: good point of course but i am not talking about it taking a few seconds to cast and people knowing whats going on, i mean a fine balance between a good anim (with a hint of what is coming so if the opponent is fast enough maybe he can counter) and the gameplay. This balance i understand would be very difficult to achieve but very satisfying if done correctly. HSDrac011: Agreed, thats the best thing they could do perhaps. Until we get uberigs, give us a more simple graphics option with the same time delays (not too much) on casting but a much more simple effect being "released" from our hands so to speak. WarBow: again good point but that would make combat and counter combat more part of the game, i guess i wouldnt want anyone to know i am about to cast a fireball at him however if i was on the recieving end i would want just a split second to counter if i would, rather than a lightning fast cast and throw, as i said before some fine balance between a fast cast and a hint of whats to come would be slightly more realistic, more fun, and more satisfying imo of course. Lets see what they come up with, it all sounds promising to me so far anyway but at least i got my opinion out |
