Default More mods are needed

I think you guys need more mods. As you can see, forumfall has moved onto your forums and with them comes hatred and disrespect for any and all rules. I see you have a few mods, but if more forumfallers come this will quickly become anarchy. As a worried poster, I believe you should promote a few posters to moderators before the storm begins.

I recommend, oh I don't know... me?

I support this thread.

Also I would make a god mod, I can be online all day long. Not that I have a life...but yeah my life allows me to be on the internet a lot!

Stop trolling and stick to the topic.

You are, under no circumstances, allowed to harass other users, use abusive language and swearing. Personal, religious, ethnical and racial attacks will also result in an instant ban just as sexual related insults.

I say they make everyone a mod and then have super mods to moderate the mods.

This is a fine idea, but ought to be one-upped. Admin powers to everybody with a sole super-admin.

I really want to see thread locking and user banning on the Mortal discussion board.

There are subjects that live in 2-3 threads. Lock the newer ones while linking to the original thread. Also, ban people for speaking leetspeak. Leetspeek is not English, which I noticed is not prohibited anymore but in fact is the only language allowed. If you need a reason to ban them, it's clearly trolling and aggravates people who try to be more serious.

We're still in a bit of a perplexed and stressed situation right now so we're unable to do most things right now like proper moderating - so only the really abusive/inappropriate behaviour and threads are being taken care of. We are looking into the issue of adding user based moderators but I can't say more than that.

So for a week or two forward, could I ask nicely for people not to stretch the limits on how far you can go until we've settled? Things tend to come back many times in the end.

Thank you yet again for your time.

Well spoken! I really don't see why people make such a sport out of posting nonsense?

Just one thing... I do hope people can stay away from abusive behavior even after you get things settled! You are to nice asking only for the first two weeks

Overmoderation has it`s own problems. If a community becomes dependent on those who keep it then it will never mature. Instead of keeping strict rules you should try to forge a general feeling of respect. If you keep people out of trouble through fear then people will only follow rules as much as they have to. If you create an environment where people want to follow the rules by having less moderation and instead encouraging the community to ignore trolls and be kind to each other then more people will follow the guidelines that are rules.

Too much moderation means the community becomes trollbait and the moderators will work themselves silly. Too little moderation means everyone breaks the rules. You need to slowly work from over moderation to a nice middle ground.

PS: You should allow cursing. Nothing is more annoying then getting into trouble because you used a synonym for "poop".

A nice dream for sure, but most of the spamers here are adults, you cannot educate to better behavior. Here are too many forumfallers and the environment won't change that much through mods. They didn't punish any disbehavior, did they? People are still spamming and writing stupid one-liners all the time. I think the forumfall moderation is pretty much at the medium and the spam problem even worse than in most other forums.

Just punish every namecalling, harassing, ect by banning them for 2 weeks or more. You can educate children to behave better but in an adult-nternet forum you won't be succesfully if you rely on reasoning against the spammer.

We know that we haven't found a good middle ground for moderation and we're still a bit rusty. I'm not to say that we're going to be nice kitties nor tigers, things will come in due time so just stay put until we get things done. All forums have different types of people and there's really no real guideline on how much moderation is needed, the same applies to this forum.

The cursing issue have been brought up internally before and we're still not sure at what level we want to allow it. As it is now, try not to overdo it and we'll see what happens next.

I ask yet again to try to stay put, we're still preparing on how to take care of the forum and that's why it seems as if there's an anarchy going on.

please don't get the wrong idea. I'm not angry about this moderation or anything else. I guess you just didn't think so many people would join the forums so quickly. I'm just saying there's a lot to improve. Mods with own opinions are always great for the player-mod-communication. I believe this is one reason why darkfall has such a high fan-support. It'd be great if you try the same.

Forumfall has it`s problems, spam is one of them. On the other hand I have rarely seen people go out of their way to offend someone. There are trolls and there are flame wars but they are rarely personal. Anything that can be taken offencively is acted on and the forums are more tollerant in some ways then others.

A 2 week ban for calling someone an idiot would only infuriate me and encourage me to troll. I have gotten stupid warnings and bans before and they do not deter problems.

The forums are young, there could not possibly be a middle ground this early. You guys are starting strong, which is a good thing. It is easier getting a community to relax then to get them to grow up.

The way it is stated in the ToS it seems like I will get suspended for saying anything offencive. I would put in a "no harrasment or trolling" line and use that when punishing evil doers. All moderators will have their own level of tolerance, writing one in stone is only going to complicate the issue. IMO.

Blixa >> Right now I just want to show that we ain't ignoring you and try to be a part of the community, everything is a bit tense and it's hard not to come out as too formal. I think it will start to become an issue if things haven't changed in the next couple of months. You should be noticing changes in the next week.

Fluffington >> Regarding the ban issue, none has been banned so far and I have only given warnings/infractions for the most childish acts so far. Swearing hasn't been given warnings due to the fact that they're pretty tame compared to what has happened at the side of them. We will look into the forum rules issue as soon as possible, but the people pulling the strings aren't around right now so please be patient.

I am starting to like this place, now Clownfoot is somewhat right, with few moderators you won't survive the storm of Darkfall fanbase running here for yet another PvP mmorpg. We're savage and most people consider us hateful jackasses that have nothing else to do than pick on people in the internet, but thats not true, its all humour.

Now that brings up a question, does Mortal Online have room for roleplaying? I am not waiting for supporting features such as RP server, but I'm waiting to see enough "fluff" and stuff so it could be a game where you could do lite-roleplaying. Adding loreplaying and roleplaying possibility, it would be a nice addition of mature people to the games sub base.
As by the way, if you're setting up some roleplaying forum, I volunteer to moderate it with activity.

I dont know what do you have against forumfall. I am not very actively part of community but i post now and than and read forum every day.
Ofc they will flame some stupid kid who is asking for 1237983718 time when is beta comeing.
But i like the guys over there, you dont see so much passion for a game like there. Check wow forums and get depresed.
Imo more forumfall guys > less wow ones.

In the end i hope both games deliver what they promised more pvp games better for everyone, you dont say for nothing healthy competition
