Hype and what players can do to improve it

Ok, so ive been seeing these forums die down TREMENDOUSLY, so what I think we can do to get more community and help MO out is Advertise MO on EVERY game and Forums and just plain old EVERYWHERE we can so we can build the Community up, keep the Hype flowing, and give the Devs a Morale boost so MAYBE they will grace us with more content to come out for MO sooner.

So, if the people that read this post can advertise about MO and think of ways to word what you say to get some new peple to join the forums (ex: say positive things about MO and some of its features that will draw some people to the forums or something like that).

This will also allow for more debating on topics and a plethora of new ideas comming in.... we will just have to deal with repeated posts.... it happens in EVERY forum so its not really a big deal if you think about it, SURE its annyoing buy hey thats more "helpful" things we/you can post and thus improve your rep and MAYBE your chances at getting to Beta test MO??? (as long as you try not to flame you should be good to go )

P.S. starting 2moro when i wake up... its midnight my time so im going to bed.... i will start posting EVERYWHERE i can find to post EVEN f theres already a post about it where i post ill make another one. If at least a few of you decide to help me out in this, maybe we ca benefit from it in the future???

Right now were still long way to release and we don have many contend in store (screenshots,video,lore,and so on) if we hype to soon we will quickly get a mass of people whyning on forum for new info and other thing that they can't yet get. I think its to early for a mass hype like this.
But I think devs need to star doing some content for promotion and interviews in MMO and game sites soon .People like to see not only hear whats in game.

i agree. we should wait until there's some gameplay footage and use that to reel people in. most people don't want to bother reading through faq's and dev journals in order to figure out what the game is all about. they want to just watch a short video to find out as much as they can about the game from that.

Unfortunately, due to our visit to Epic Games and the upcoming Game Convention we are not going to release any new information for Mortal Online this summer (July/August). Due to our tight schedule we have to prioritize working on the game itself and the surrounding development (as well as getting some rest for a week or two). We are sorry for this and promise to do our best to compensate for it when time allows us to.

my guess is we'll see some new content in the coming months (maybe weeks...?), and when that happens, be ready to spam it like it's your job...

With all due respect to MO and the MO community, skepticism is now my guide.

Hype without substance is rampant and does little to advance anything. MMOs live and die by hype re: AoC. Not getting carried away by an idea is what has kept me sane since 1999.

Until MO reveals something concrete I will always be wary. It's the nature of the beast.

Good idea! People look up mortal online on google and they will see it come up about 3rd in the search which is the wikipedia page. And it isnt really that much impressive so far.
I cant edit because im banned from wikipedia for trying putting myself on there LOL . I stated i was in a newspaper but they didnt believe me...

I spread the word about MO to my friends and other forums as well. The thing is, there isn't a whole lot of media on MO at the moment. Unless you are die hard oldschool MMO'er who knows exactly what they want in an MMO, I could see how it would be hard to get excited about MO.

I disagree about this being a good type to spread hype. It could easily get lost in WAR and the upcoming WoW expansion. I say wait a few months after the release of before mentioned games, get some updates to MO's website... and then it'll be a perfect time to get the hype machine going on MO.

All of my "hardcore" MMO friends are excited to see how MO pans out, and if they deliver on most of the promises of the premire video... I'm sold. I had a lot of fun in early UO/EQ days of MMOing before the current crop of dumbed down games, can't wait to see what MO brings back to the table!

I am also on board with the 'we should wait' notion. Because we need more information before hand. There's a few pieces of definite information on the website, but beyond that... honestly it's pretty bare and doesn't say much about the actual game.
I haven't been around too long and I've already covered most of the information and the forums seem to be already repeating themselves. It's not really something that would keep someone's attention or enthusiam very long. A few yes, but to try and hype it, no, I don't think it would last right now.

dont talk about the game, show the game

as of now you see a teaser and thats about it

My bad about the language useage, i usually just type off of the top of my head (not thinking to long on subjects). However, my useage of grammar should'nt get you guys all pissed where you flame me for it. Also, calling people names earns you bad rep...which i just gave both of you for flaming me instead of nicely posting back.

Another thing, you could've just posted asking me to edit my grammar/reword what i said and i would've done it.....flaming is no way to go about getting your ideas through to someone.

P.S. .... if you are REALLY that concerned about my grammar useage then PLEASE post back asking me to make my freaking i's CAPITAL we can once again make a big deal about something that is'nt a big deal at all...... its called comprehending...learn how to do it and for god sake i no i sometimes dont type my ideas out clearly but use some Common Sense will you and grow up and stop whining about every little thing someone does wrong.

umm... this thread is about how to improve Hype later on when more information is released. All Pudd was saying is, if you read the posts before it, that it would help with the Hype if someone updated the wikipedia page..... because people tend to look games up on wikipedia as well.

P.S. im not trying to flame you....just letting you know what he meant...or at least what i thik he meant >.<

You misunderstand. I 100% agree with him. The wiki-article could do with some updating.

It is not only complete, but somewhat misleading as to the true nature of Mortal.

I don't think we should create a hype, because hype is equal to unfulfilled expectations, but we can try to let other people know that this game exists.
I'd start by sending an e-mail to mmorpg.com to list the game in their gamelist section, because currently it isn't listed there. This would be a good start because a lot of mmorpg players visit that site.
But the game has still a year (or more) of development to go, so it's too early to start "marketing" the game.
