Dev Tracker!

The request for a dev tracker was made in the beta forums and I've put one together.

Nice work, but is this also tracking posts made by Henrik Nystrom? He's made a couple posts in the public forums, which don't appear on the tracker.

Yep, he's on there. His most recent post is the 18th down. He got bumped, I guess, because Denny's talkative.

Right now he's not, but he could be added easily if requested.

Most people use the dev tracker to get the latest info on the game. Maerlyn's posts, given his position, are typically more about moderation, forum rules and the like so they're not listed right now.

EDIT: Just found a bug in the spider script which prevented some new posts from being added to the database. It's fixed now so all the most recent posts should now be shown as well. Sorry about that.

Awesome, if only we could get a beta compatible one now.

and DAAAAAMN Denny posts a lot compared to the other devs. I guess there's not much more animating to do right now.

It takes about 10-15 seconds to type and commit a post and I do it when I take a minute break. I guess that means the other 10-11 hours doesn't include working.

Just a heads up that I've added a new search function to the DevTracker.

Edit so I don't spam the thread too much: it's been changed so that all times when viewing the page are in your local timezone, read from your computer's settings. Unfortunately I can't do this in the RSS feed though!

Another new update: the DevTracker now includes server status! The patching, log in and game world are currently displayed. Server stability has been pretty flawless lately anyway, though.

Some changes have been made to the links. Any links clicked will now take you right to the developer's post even if it's on a multi-page thread. This is one of the things I always found annoying. :P

Great, thanks for the updates! also, how do you get info on server status? is it automatic or you are updating it yourself based on your own observations?

Probably script that pings the servers to see if they are alive.

Yep! It's not 100% accurate as it'll basically say "online" as long as the computer running them is fully booted up and active. If they restart the server computer it'll say "offline" until it's back up.

I could make it more accurate by doing port scans but I'd rather not make it too intrusive.

You seem to be missing a fair few dev posts mate. There have been a few recently by Sebastian that aren't showing up.

where by if you click on Dev name it will bring up all of their recent posts?

The script will update itself automatically about every 2 hours or so. If a post was just made by a developer it can sometimes take 1 minute to 2 hours to be added to our database.

Done! You'll now find a dropdown menu to filter by developer in the top-left corner. It will show all posts in our database (up to the 100 most recent) for that developer.

If you don't mind me asking ( Im a half assed web developer with limited skills ) what did you use to make that. Looks like php but was it like a free script you modified, something you started from scratch or one of those free apps you can unpack and configure.

Just wondering that is a sweet little setup, I could think of a few ways to use it.

Good Job I use it all the time!

It's made with PHP, MySQL and memcache. The memcache is overkill for it but since I had it installed on the server already, why not?

Took a few hours to do from scratch.
