Default Stress Test / Next patch

Dear Community. Before we move on to the open beta and then release shortly after, we need your help with a massive initial stress test early next week.
We will be releasing a new patch shortly before that - the stress test will run with that new version.
We need as many players online as possible for us to get some core data that will determine quite a few important steps we'll have to take.

EVERYBODY will be able to participate in that test.

UPDATE: STRESS TEST TONIGHT, 2
0th of January , at 21.30 gmt +1.

Every registered account will be able to log in around 20:30 to take some stress of the login server and give you guys a better chance to spread out in the world.
DON'T form large player clusters please - we need to test ALL the nodes at once.

TEST COMPLETE - LOGIN CLOSED

Not only current beta testers. During the test, which will last for about 1-2 hours, everybody who set up an account using the shop page (completing step 1)
will be able to participate.

This will not be an "entertainment" event, which doesn't mean it won't be fun.

Please make sure to share this information with your guilds, your fan communities and all your friends, in the game as well as outside of the game.
This is a vital step in the development of Mortal Online - be a part of it.

~Maerlyn

No, better with just bug fixes, so that they don't break the game before the stresstest.

we need a lot of bugs to be fixed before that test. How will the bugs affect the image of the game ? for example the extraction window is bugged , now the icon has dissapeared the new guys coming dont even know how to extract ore. How can a horde of nakeds help us? imagine how the word will spread and how the game image will be affected.
I am not a troll , is one of my greatest wishes in 2010 that this game to succeed , but are also some problems that we can not ignore . I say let`s give the game a little more time fix the problems then an open beta will be welcomed. Before open the gates , maybe is better to think what the new guys will find.
I am really hoping that the new patch/client will be a lot better and all the reported bugs have been fixed.

How the hell does everyone logging in over 1 or 2 hours yield enough data to test server preformance, and won't you need to make incremental changes over time while under heavy stress to work out the kinks?

It gives people a specific time frame. If it was 24 hours, the amount of people on would be less concentrated.

so will this next patch be something easily handled by the patcher, or should I tell my friends to just wait and DL the new client. And will people be able to DL the new client in time for the test?

We are not announcing this test publicly (except for the forums), and we don't do any marketing for it. It's a crash test and a preparation for the "real" open, free Beta. That doesn't mean the word won't spread, but the best you can do is get a lot of people you know to download the game and get online, and prepare them for hell = crashes, inability to log in, lag, and so on.

Quote:

We hope so too. But this is not a test of game play mechanics, or AI, or Extraction/Crafting etc. It's simply a test where our goal is to crash the server, hopefully several times, so that we can see when it crashes and why. For people that haven't tried the game at all but want to see how it looks, this may be a good opportunity. But they shouldn't count on getting in, and if they do, there will probably be lots and lots of lag. And crashes. Still, we need you to help us make a better game!

we will try to do our best I understand what you said perfectly and what is the purpose of this , but also you will have to take in consideration the risks of an future open beta . People come to play , they want to be entertained Matt. Some of them will cry that blainns are too hairy , minor bugs will look like national disasters and so on .
I think the server will be ok , the only thing that we still regret is the lag when u are crossing a node , that can affect somehow the game. Other things related to server mechanics..i dont know. bugs and other things are totally another problem.

This game is being released within weeks. Don't you think the public is going to find out really soon what the quality of the game is like?

This is going to be a LOT bigger than you're thinking, Devs... The servers probably won't be up for more than 5 minutes.

Can't wait for open beta though.

Of course you can not hide things in an open beta. This is why i said is important that things to be planned carefully and make the game experience as pleasant as it can be.

Stop talking about a Open Beta please ... In my Opinion the Game needs min 6-12 Months more ... Be realistic, i doesnt think there is a "magical Patch" who fix most of the Things and add the Stuff that the Game need. 70% of the Invorenment are unfinish, most of the Core Features like PvE, Crafting, Skills etc. are unfinish. This Game is more in an Alphastatus so set it back to them - MO is absolutley NOT ready for an OB.

If I were you I'd wait until after the patch and grab the whole new client via torrent.. If you DL the current client you'll have to patch up and I think the patcher is gonna get hammered on the day and may struggle to get in game.

You know you would many many more people attending it if you said you would spawn a dragon at the end of it as a reward.

Yes, even if he would kill us all with one hit, would be funny!

Stop writing, before you didn't read more on the forums, please!

I guess nearly everybody except of you knows, why they will release it at the end of the month and not in about 6-12months.
And to give you a hint: Vanguard, Age of Conan!!!

We all know its not ready, but I guess it's not only SV's decision to release it now!

Wow seriously?

I wonder how many non-beta testers will try, but be unable to launch the game for this event.
