Refute WHAT points? You have none or have made none clear.. enumerate them for me and I will refute them line by line.

Some generic.. they mailed unusable discs because their customers asked for them is NOT a point.. show me an example of someone that ASKED for an unusable disc.. and not just one person.. but enough to force the company to perform the incredulous action of actually sending them out like that.

Go ahead.. I'm waiting...

And I'm waiting for your other "points' as well.. other than the point you made by speaking about something (unpatchable discs) of which you know nothing (by asking what version was on them AFTER your statements).

Please enlighten us.

Clearly you didn't read any of my posts. I have stated time and again that no one asked for unpatchable discs, they asked for discs before the game even had a patcher. They can't just bend time to give them something they don't have themselves yet.

The version means nothing in this argument as long as it's pre-0.12.16.18 (which it obviously is due to the claim that it cannot be patched). I'm curious as to what version it is.

OK.. you clearly didn't understand what enumerate your points meant.. but let's try anyway:

Again.. a patcher is a pretty basic piece of the software package. No one EVER asked for an unpatchable disc to be sent. People were asking for UPDATES because they were originally told the boxes would ship in September. people assumed their disc would have an outdated client that could be PATCHED to the current version... like every other piece of software. So instead the company could do two things:

A: Tell the customers "Folks we don't have a working patcher yet.. so bare with us. We hope to have one ready by XXX day and will send out the boxes at that point".

B: Retreat into the back of the lab of doom, create DVDs with a client that they know will be outdated and unpatchable.. and mail them out to the customers and hope no one notices.

Somehow it is the CUSTOMERS fault that they chose to do B....

No.. you shot your mouth off and said:

It's not unpatchable
Clearly speaking of something that you have no understanding of.. kind of like enumerating I guess.

Now, did that "refute your points" or were there others?

I like how you accidentally posted with your second account after negative repping me twice.

Real mature there, "grow some balls" this coming from someone who anonymously negative repped me with two accounts?
It also seems you don't know what paraphrasing is.

Curveball? I proved you wrong, what more is there to say? I told you how to patch it, you can patch it or not, your choice.
From the fact you're still going on about it it seems more like you're just trolling than you actually want a fix.

You told me in a PM some crazy steps like copy the files from the disc to hard drive and download the new torrent but point it onto the folder I copied the files in on the HD and then patch over that and it should work but that SV doen't want you to do it this way but it's a secret seeder trick...

Yeah.. wonderful.. if that was what SV wanted why didn't they post that?

How about your point about it being the customer's fault they sent out discs like this? Ready to agree that they should (like any rational company) gone with option A?

They don't want you doing it. They want everyone to have a clean install with 0.12.16.18.

The customers asked for the discs early and they got the discs early, they will still be getting the final disc but it's not yet at release so they're not getting them now.
They went with both options, they sent the cases, disc and goody bags early but they're still going to send the completed version. The only difference between what they did and option A is that you get the case early and a second disc.

No.. the difference is that you would have a USEABLE disc. Instead of an unusable one now and a "useable" one a month after release that will be useless as you will have had to download the client unless you want to start playing a month after release.

You wouldn't have a "useable" one any quicker than you will now. As I said, they can't bend time and give you a version with the patcher before they've even finished it. They will send the "useable" one when they would have sent it if they weren't rushed to send them out in the first place.

The company chose to send them this way, not the customers. If I go into my auto repair shop and keep asking the guy when my car will be ready and they give it to me with the breaks unconnected it's the shop's fault....

That's not what happened. It's more like.
You go to your auto repair shop and keep asking the guy when your car will be ready so they give you a temporary car that doesn't run well. They then give you your car when it's ready.

They're giving you a bonus and you're complaining about it.

This is what's going on, and it should be sufficient to end Calidor's stupid arguing:

Customers demanded the DVDs and boxes right away and of course have the right to get a final DVD with the released version on it. They'll get both.

Oh, and of course this information could be found using the search function.

Mauzi.. when do you think the customers will RECEIVE this second DVD? Do you think it will be before launch day? If so, then you are right, but everything SV has said (as far as I know) is that the new DVD will be sent out after release. Given that the boxes started shipping almost a month ago and not everyone has them... that means folks won't get the "new" and "useable" disc until a month after release. How does that help?

Calidor, if this is really such a big deal to you that you need to post a whole page, well.. that's pathetic. It's not the end of the world.

People will get the box early and the retail DVD around launch time. If they want the game installed on the day of release, the can just download the client like the thousands of other users who will not have preordered. You won't have to wait for your DVD in order to play; if you do that's your own decision.

Please stop being such a drama queen and get on with life. This is not even an issue.

Edit: Sorry guess I should learn to search first Think I got it.
Edit 2: Ok I fixed the problem below... but now I'm getting a NowGame.exe exception, and can't really find the solution to this one. Also hard to describe the problem, I got a windows thingie that says NowGame.Exe had an error and had to be closed.

AppName: nowgame.exe
ModVer: 5.1.2600.3541
AppVer: 0.0.0.0
Offset: 00012a6b
ModName: kernel32.dll

Ugh... I'm getting the same problem as I got back when I downloaded the exact same thing before 3rd stress test :/

For one, what happened to me looks nothing at all like the guide. I started the updater.exe, it downloaded full patch, no errors. Installed, no issues. Automatically went to the next patch, of like 9,5MB I think, then installed it, still no issues. Then it says it's all done... so I hit play, and I get an error. The error's in Dutch but I'll translate...

NowGame.exe - Cannot find a component
This application cannot be started because d3dx10_41.dll cannot be found. Reinstalling this application could solve this.

Well.. reinstalling isn't gonna solve it, so what is? Am I missing part of the game, or is there something else I'm missing? *hates dll errors*

Ethran, have you installed recent video drivers, physx drivers from nvidia.com (even if you don't have a physx/nvidia card) and .net framework?

Thanks, the physx did it. I can open the game now... it's incredibly laggy though My cursor has like a 4 second delay moving over the screen. Took me a minute to get it to "Quit". Guess I'll have to shut everything else down for it. Wouldn't expect it to be that laggy just on the login screen though.

Thumbs up Slow download

I am a new user that does'nt have the technical ability that most of you guys seem to have. I have already wasted about 3 days getting downloads of versions that simply don't work (error getting revision etc).Just downloaded latest version with new updater and am assured that I will not have to download again .
When downloading torrent I noticed that peer upload rates were ridiculously low e.g 0.1Kb/Sec.
Mine took a day until I read the torrent help and learned to turn off Firewall and ensuring port is in exception list (Port forwarding) enable UPnP etc. last 5 hours downloaded at 80/90Kb/sec after making adjustments.
The point I would like to make is that I have exhaustively read the tech support forums and seen no reference to improving download speeds either by members or game developers.
Too much time is spent crying over spilt milk -we are almost there and at 57 (probably oldest member) I am Really looking forward to going Gold.

Remember my name and go easy on me if we cross paths on line lol

Btw, just curious if it's just me that had problems with the direct download. I used torrent after so no big deal... but when I tried downloading the "3.7GB" or so file from them internets, it gave me a 700byte corrupted .rar file instead.

Are you running updater.exe, or "mortal online launcher.exe"? The updater simply updates the launcher, and then runs the launcher. You can run the launcher directly; however, it's usually the old version of the launcher which crashes and not updater. I've never heard of updater crashing..

Do you have the .Net framework installed? Updater requires .Net 2.0, but I'd recommend having 3.5 installed anyway.

The only significant difference between updater and the launcher, code wise, is the torrent engine. The crash most likely lies in there. You should have 3 DLL files in the same folder as the updater, right? Maybe try re-downloading just those 3 DLLs from the torrent and replacing them?

Can you be more precise? Can you maybe name those three folders so I can see if I do have them? All I have downloaded is: "mortalonline","MonoTorrent.Dht","Mortal Online Launcher","TaskbarLib" and "updater"

Do you not have MonoTorrent.dll? You should have MonoTorrent.Dht.dll and MonoTorrent.dll. That would definitely crash the launcher.

  2. Create a new folder in your Program Files directory called "Mortal Online Beta" (or whatever else you want to call it)
  3. Extract the zip or copy the folder from the torrent to this new directory. For example, right now in my Program Files folder I have a folder called "Mortal Online Beta." Within this folder, I have another folder called "Updater" and within that are all the game files, including the patcher you will need to run.
  4. Go into the "Updater" folder and run updater.exe. This should patch everything (it went smoothly for me, hopefully it works for you) and just follow all of the prompts.
  5. Once it is completely finished, hit Play and you should be all set.
THANK YOU omg someone actually explaining it exactly +rep
