Anyone have ideas on this? If the download is bugged can I purge the download and start over? PS: My base install is from the disc. Edit: Solution is at http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/3...tuck-99-a.html Last edited by Cranson : 26th February 2010 at 07:22. |

My problem is, the patcher often freezes. It happens when the patcher is at "Nowgames.exe". I wanted to try to install again today, but the first patch freezed. I started one hour and a half ago, and it's still frozen. I raged and unstalled, trying again. It is a common bug for me, on this patcher.

I can't minimize the patcher. There is just the cross-icon (close) and nothing else.
Edit : I'm turning computer off. Back tomorow. So I won't reply soon. Thanks for helping me Trystram ! Last edited by Ormindo : 4th March 2010 at 21:18. |

Ok back. The problem is, I can't minimize the patcher. I can minimize the launcher, but not the patcher.
Also, if it's minimized, how will I know it's done? And must leave the computer, or can I surf the net during this ? |

I think its pretty damning that 2 people I know both in senior IT technical roles have both given up with MO already. None of us could get it working as we would like on our PCs (just on the phone with one of them now to ask how he was getting on but he stopped playing a couple of weeks ago it seems) We even tried using alternative network connections. In the first instance the install from the DVD kept getting stuck on one of the machines and had to be shut down from the task bar. The only thing I havent tried is disabling more network security. I know of nothing that should be an issue but as this game seems to be affected by other things I wouldnt expect. Personally I am not willing to be quite so open to security issues to play any game. Will probably set it up on its own at the weekend if I can be bothered and run it without security to see what happens. Its alarming when games demand things like: Disable UAC, Make alterations to your routing (apart from firewall exceptions etc) Run as Admin or compatibility mode, or customise the running environment in even less desirable ways. Its just not necessary, why make a customer fix the gaps in a poorly designed product. I know MO is in Beta so the choice is there to just avoid beta of course which is fair enough and certainly has been my preference. I just like to come back once a quarter and check if anything worth seeing has happened along the way. But right now the actual productization of the game seems to be in reverse with all the messing around required to get it to work. By the way. did anyone get anything in their box at all apart from a dvd. Was a cute little metal box thing with a single DVD in it but no inserts etc which I thought surprising. Incidentally you can open as many connections on your router as you like and take advantage of them in windows 7 only. There is a hard coded limit in XP and Vista which will only allow a maximum of 10 connections anyway. Meant to prevent certain malicious attacks but the limit was removed in Win7. As some people have pointed out its more likely to be ISPs choking torrents these days. Have a friend who is a director of a well known ISP and they throttle right back on torrent connections.
On the other hand if your in the UK it probably wont be an issue in the near future if Peter Mandleson gets his way anyway. Torrents will be seriously nerfed and regulated to death. |

I have the same problem as RIOT. Still trying to get that next patch, getting 0-1 connections at 0,3 kb. So the last 1 % of this patch will take two more hours to download whereas the rest was here in 15 minutes...
btw. the patch number is mopatch121719bto121820 - it doesn't seem to download... EDIT: IT DID! Even though it didn't seem to download it did! So if your updater seems to be stuck a t 99% have some patience. Even though it may take a while to finish the download, it won't nearly take as long as the installer tells you! I think the launcher should display how many more files it is going to download. Basically, I have been downloading patches for 4 hours without being able to play anything yet. Oh, and my speed went up to 2000 kb/s temporarily. It would be cool, if there was another download option than this torrent/patcher thing. Subversion, for example, would work well. I don't want to sound too negative, but if I wasn't so desperately looking forward to playing the beta, I wouldn't bother downloading this. It's simply discouraging and annoying to go from "Hooray" (patch download complete) to "Doh!" (next patch downloading) for five times in a row. I just want to plaaaaaaay!!! EDIT: DAMN IT! Now it's just started loading patch 121821 - will this ever end Last edited by SinKing : 9th March 2010 at 13:50. |

Messed around with MO today during a bit of quiet time. Used 2 identical machines (except for graphics cards.) One has an old 4870x2 +4890 Crossfire the other has dual 5870s but apart from that identical. One of them we could get MO to work at all. Wouldnt even properly finish the install process. The other one we did exactly the same thing but disabled all security including UAC, Firewalls, and Antivirus etc. Funny enough the second option did work and we had no problems either downloading a patch or installing and running the game.
From there we tried to indentify which elements were causing what issue. Certainly the firewall on the router seemed to be causing ridiculously slow download speeds but we never could work out why. Port forwarding was enabled and we enabled UPnoP etc. Suffice to say. We wouldnt play using a machine with no security. More work needed. |

I'm going to just go ahead and say that there are a fair amount of college students trying to get this game to work. Go blame your College's ISP and Firewalls right now.
Just got back home for spring break. Everything works smooth.... |

to finish... torrents are a great way to spread large patches, much more effecient that server to client, so long as all the clients are allowing upload. but my question is, why so many patches, why not just set it to download a most updated install file for people that are just starting and installing for the first time...Why did I need to download 4 patches between 750mb and 1.9 gigs??? than 3 others at around 8 mb??? theres something dreadfully neglectfull about that for a first time install *running as Administrator is definatly Key...I hope people got something out of my post. Anyway, you do need to forward ports for DHT to work well. If the firewall is on the router, you need to tell the router which connected PC it should forward the packets to on a specific port. As for the patches, it's because they're incremental patches. They don't contain entire files, so you can't just download the latest right off the bat. Each patch updates the previous version files to the next. The patches only store the difference between two versions, not the full file. |

Yes ... purchase game cost 40 euros while you get 1 month "free". But I am downloading patches now longer than 2 days and I think it is maybe at half way!!! Even totally free MMO games have faster download - maybe devs have no money for better result but that 1 free month may start when you first login into game. Lost 4 days by downloading by app. 5 - 30 KB/sec is not good

I have done the port forwarding, 5000 connections, run as administrator and in xp compatability mode, still i get 30kbsec download speed taking 13hours to download. Why does is download so many patches? Cant we just get the most up to date version?
This launcher is a joke! You expect people to pay for this? 30day free = 30days downloading...... This would be so much easier on steam. Last edited by NachoMan.619 : 14th June 2010 at 00:26. |

Can confirm that it is going slow, even with ports forwarded, opened, no firewalls, etc. The seed server only dumps off about 60-90 kbps itself, I'm getting a total of 90-160 kbps, on the third patch. That's about 2 1/2 hours per patch. Hopefully I don't have many left, though the server appears to be down right now, anyway.

i'm trying to download first patch now, and i can see only 1 connection (o i lost it). What is going on ? it took me whole day to download a 1810mbs. Are there no more seeds ? Its not my pc's fault because i remeber when i was downloading other things using torrents and they were just fine. Why there is no option to download patches from hosting sites like rapidshare

Try disabling peer to peer in your launcher options. It'll bypass the torrent system and do a direct download. |
