I just went through some serious effort being a new open beta player getting my client up and running. I'm going to take a moment to share my knowledge and hopefully save others from some of the frustration that I endured.
First things first MAKE SURE TO INSTALL the primary file INTO THE DEFAULT DIRECTORY. This is something I have learned over the years beta testing MMO's and now realize that by following just this simple rule I'm avoiding hours of frustration and the game not working. Okay the initial 100meg file that you downloaded should now be installed correctly. Next, Launch the client. Most likely you will receive a connection error message. If so open "C:\Program Files (x86)\Start Vault\Mortal Online\updater.exe" using your right mouse button on updater.exe then select run as administrator(Vista and Windows 7 users) from the dropdown menu. Most likely this will result in a server error as well, BUT WHAT'S IMPORTANT IS YOU KEEP TRYING THIS UNTIL IT CONNECTS AND UPDATES YOUR CLIENT. Trust me it will connect and patch but it might take 3-10 back to back attempts before it connects or more. Keep trying this because unless it connects and updates your launch client you are shit out of luck. Good news is i've installed it 4 times now on various computers and have had it succeed on all of them after 3-10 attempts. Next launch the client again it should start downloading new patch. If you are like me and are impatient and are an EXPERIENCED USER do this otherwise disregard and let the patcher do it's thing. - Close the MO client open the MO directory -> patches -> open the torrent destination file using your preferred P2P torrent program and download through that for maximum speed(I was getting 300-500kb/s with MO client and 700-1100kb/s using utorrent). Once patch download is complete move the file into "C:\Program Files (x86)\Start Vault\Mortal Online\mortalonline". Again righ click it and select launch as admistrator. Once 1/2 patch install is complete launch client again and wait for it to start downloading next patch. Once it starts u can again close it and open it in your prefered P2P client. Rinse/repeat follow steps above. NOTE: To get good download speeds using P2P connections assuming you are going through a router, you must ensure that you open up the port that is being used by the download software on your router. For more info on how to do this google "opening ports on 'your router name' ". Once all the patches are done and client is up to date one problem I ran across is client not launching due to missing a *.dll file. In my case the corrupt/missing file was associated with my directx install which the game adjusted. I fixed this by re-installing the newest version of directx. If you get a different error your best chance at fixing it is to google that error/missing file using different combinations of "missing file name and/or game and/or error number/id and/or any other relevent information that might lead you to your answer. I spent $20,000 on college tuition and what did I learn from it all? If you need an answer google it, if you don't find anything useful google it again using different keywords until you find it. Hope this helped, g'luck see you in game. |

Nice description. But I have a problem here. You said that you have about 300-500 kb/s download speed with the launcher and 700-1100 kb/s with utorrent. I don't get it how you have so fast dl speed. If I'm lucky, my launcher downloads with 20-30 kb/s and utorrent with 50-100 kb/s. IF I'm lucky... ATM the speed is 5 kb/s with utorrent. If you would tell me how could I make my download faster, I'd appreciate that. Thanks in advance.

If you are using a router you need to open the port on your router that you are using for the connection.
Typically to access your router you enter 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 into your browser but this varies based on what brand of router you are using. Every router is different and the procedure for opening ports is slightly different. That's why I recommend you use google to learn how to do it for your specific router. If you are behind a firewall you might also have to open up the port in your firewall, again google for the required information. |

Yea this is new patch system is ridiculous, You don't think that some ppl can't use torrents because it's illegally in some countries. Another thing torrents are very slow if u are new in the torrent system. Before the new patch system I downloaded directly 9 Gb of game client less than for a hour, with this new system i have to wait few days with my 15 Mbit channel. I can understand that u are reduce the load on the server but it's annoying to wait so long.

I did what the OP kulprid did here as well and it worked just fine for me.. as soon as the launcher connects and downloads just a tiny kb of that patch the torrent file is there for you to add to your torrent client of choice. i got 800-1400kB/s from it..
Now all I need it that darn d3dx10_41.dll :-) |
