I got on today to see if there were any responses to my thread to see that my thread has been deleted. Effectively it wasn't deleted, it was 'consolidated' into another thread, "Post Your First Impressions of Mortal Online."
Not trying to be rude, but this is bullshit. As a thread, my post stood a chance of being read, but no one is going to scour "Post Your First Impressions of Mortal Online." No, screw that. People just want to read 5-15 posts, post their opinion, then abandon that thread. What's more, I thought my post was deleted because no one even informed me that this happened to my thread, I thought it was deleted! I'm sorry, but no one is going to read their way to post #136; even if they did, they'd derail the thread by trying to debate it. That's what I wanted, I wanted people to be able to (first of all,) SEE my opinon, then have them be able to debate it without ruining another thread. Also, I wouldn't say that my thread had anything to do with my first impression of MO. My first impression of Mortal Online was "What the hell am I supposed to do?" |

There are reasons why we do this, one of them is to keep the forum as clean as we can. So we lock duplicate threads or merge them with others.

but unless your thread is very different from every other first impression, it is going to get pushed onto the second page in less than a day anyway so you are not much better off. if you really want to make a point about a certain aspect of mortal online then my advice would be to post about that instead. but first search for other threads on the subject because most of these things have been said before. There is no forum mechanism for letting posters know that their thread has been merged, aside from redirects which leave the whole exercise pointless in the first place. You can still find your posts via your subscribed threads or by looking at your profile. |

Well, this is what you say, but what it feels like is that any thread that is negative towards MO gets merged. If not, then they seem to stay in General Discussion.
Right now there is a poll about guilds in general discussion, it's positive and constructive so it gets to stay. There are many other examples.... Now, I get the reasoning and even agree with it on some level, I just wish you guys would say that instead of the justifications you do use. It makes you look gimpy IMHO.
