Mortal Online Community Challenge

The Star Vault dev team has been challenged in Dota by the community in the IRC Mortal Online channel several times. So far we have turned the challenges down (as we didnâ€™t want to hurt anybodyâ€™s self-esteem), but after numerous requests we have decided to put an end to this by showing you how the game is really meant to be played. Itâ€™s Devs against Community!

We have chosen Souljah to be in charge of putting together a team representing the MO community. If you are interested in playing in the Community Team pm Souljah or contact him in IRC for a tryout.

The Dev Team will consist of Markus, Charlie, Erik, Jens and Henrik - and we wonâ€™t accept any losses

If the Community Team wins the match there will be the following rewards for the community:

A unique in-game Screenshot
The community may ask to see 2 concept drawings/models of whatever you want to see from Mo on the forum, and we will show them to you, in their current state, finished or not (if we have them at all). You may discuss and compose a list of which concepts/models you want to see on the forum. Souljah will ultimately decide on the priority of the list should the community be unable to do so.
A beta account for each player in the Community Team.

If the Dev Team wins the match there will be the following rewards for the community:

None

Rules:

The game will be recorded and publicly released for the Mortal Online community
Dota 5vs5 version 6.58
Game mode â€“cm
Best of 3 matches
Date is preliminary set to Thursday 22th January 18:00 (GMT +1 time zone)
Ping will be checked before the match starts
All players have to check in on our IRC Mortal Online channel 15 minutes before the match starts
All players must be members of the Mortal Online forum
The game will be hosted at Star Vaultâ€™s office

What are you trying to be suspensful? We have played you guys before, well not you Talos specifically, but we have played Henrik and Challe multiple times in "Practise rounds"; and honestly, I think that Souljah doesn't need a team to beat you. He could just go him vs SV team and win.

So boom!

Thanks for setting up this competition though, but I want a rematch in AoChivalry after this!

Is there any chance you guys will have similar competitions later with other games?

What about games such as:

Age of Chivalry.
FPS games like Quake or Counter Strike.
Racing simulations like Live for Speed.

I would totally secure the community a couple of screenshots if that would be the games played. Or maybe not AoChiv as I suck in that game, but I guess other people are good there.. ^^

you should not put the dev-team into too many competitions, in the end they use up all their time to practise for upcoming sessions vs. the community instead of programming the game !

yeah, you didn't want to hurt the devs' self esteems.. ;P

dammit.. why couldn't have been another game. i left my warcraft cd at home, and besides.. i already won a beta account, so that wouldn't be very fair. oh, and i suck at DoTA.

is there a way to spectate while the game is going on? or will i have to wait for the recording to be released..? i mean, it's not fun to watch a recording when you know who's going to win.

anyways, thanks devs, and i look forward to seeing you guys get decemated.

Personally, I'm rooting for the MO community team, though it would be an epic tale on how we "missed out" by losing to the Dev team.
Can't wait to see the recap of the match.

But really nice idea from dev. This again shows dev. arent away from comunity as by other mmorpg's.

Will the broadcasting of the match be live or a recorded video will be posted later?

actually that's not a bad idea.. only the community already gets prizes for winning, but the devs get none. why not give the devs the great opportunity to talk to me about MO in a private web chat, or maybe they could have the even greater opportunity of playing MO with me during beta development?
