The original Map that is widley used today, was partially based on the POS cordiante system, with that we were able to get a "Pixel Perfect" map of the area that was available to us at the time. However Starvault soon encrypted the positioning system, and it could no longer be used for things like mapping. While the efforts continued to map the entire continent it was obvious that the new areas suffered from heavy distortion, and mapping any new areas would be extremely difficult.
However when Starvault posted their article on their weather system, they essentially handed over scaffolding for building a new and accurate map. By placing the weather map over the old POS made map, and using "Sausage Lake" as the guide, the weather map fell perfectly over known POS landmarks, forming the base to correct the distortions in the new areas. Spoiler for The weather map shown in comparison to the new map:
The weather map had to be essentially "Reverse Engineered", and it had to be understood why the map cut off into a different region where it did. As an example, "Sausage Lake" includes the two smaller lakes in the North, and it makes sense, since bodies of water act as generators for weather, and it is logical to assume that they should be grouped together. At the same time Mountains act as natural walls for each region, and by looking at the influence arrows, you could guess the elevation difference and mountain height. This map includes only the major cities, and we are also releasing an un-marked "Clean" map. The reason why we did this, is that we want the maps to act as a base for the community to build on, as even the Forest locations were omitted. So it will be up to the community as a whole to properly flesh the maps out with priest and spawn locations, with their own solutions; whether it be google maps, or anything else. Hopefully this will make navigation in Nave easier for all players. Marked Map - Includes the locations of major cities. Clean Map - A clean unmarked map with just the geography. I was going to work with Iaconus (the guy that made the Audacian Map based off the original map by Rathius and others) on doing just this. I had a feeling that a lot of other people had the same idea with the weather map., and apparently, you have beat us to it. If we have enough time we might sit down for a day and flesh it out though. Kudos, it looks pretty good guys

If/when I get bored, I was planning on making a different style of this map, making it look like one of those old style hand drawn maps, adding in more terrain features (such as trees). The current style would have been a bit cluttered with trees and would have defeated the purpose of it by hiding the paths through certain areas, not to mention the entire jungle. Gabriel_knig had access to the early versions of the map; they weren't pretty but they allowed him to update his 3D map, so I expect that both navemap.com and the 3D map will be updated at the exact same time, and relativley soon. As soon as they are; I will include them in the OP.

Shinzon - Fantastic work by you and your Guild.
I think it is a fantastic representation of the world. Also, The approach you took with the Weather System, is just genius I hope the 3D Map does it justice. 3D Map will be released momentarily (about 30 minutes) As i have to make quick changes to things obviously. Again Thanks so much for this contribution

Great map.
And I love when people bitch about the map being available. Thats what happened in our world too, people went out, explored it, mapped it, and then published those maps. Now ideally it would have been better to have that in game for sale by players to players. |

Just an observation, but it seems like this map is more than just a "map" when you layered it with the weather system, it kinda also gives you an idea of where keeps will be and what the political breakdown would be/is.

Really Nice Map, wrong overdue because all the other ones did not have the stairs of Echidna.
played around with the top right corner a bit, added caves and priests. Priests are the white dots, all added from memory Spoiler for :D:
