Default Patch notes v.1.18.34.48 - Patch goes live Friday, July 16th.

Version 1.18.34.48 – Release
2010-07-15

Notice: We can't stress this enough. When the launcher is running the patch installer, let it run its course. It will take some time to apply the patch and it might seem like the installer is doing nothing, but it is working. If you reboot or kill the patcher process you run the risk of corrupting you installation, forcing you to do a full reinstall.

------ ADDITIONS & CHANGES ------

General:

- "Insta-log" fixed. If you're a carebear chicken and pull the plug during a fight your character will stay present in the world for 60 sec. Helpless.

- All server-messages are now coloured pink.

- Added the "get up" animation for when your soul raises from your corpse in the Etherworld.

- Added new features to the Etherworld:
When you die and enter the Etherworld, your Mana power-bar will display your current Kau (energy). The amount of Kau you have is dependent on your Psyche. (Please note that using the Mana bar for this is temporary, and please note that Mana and Kau are calculated differently.)

You now move faster and jump higher in the Etherworld, your movement ability is determined by your Psyche.

The living can't see you when you are in the Etherworld, you can't hear them, and you can no longer talk to them.

When pressing X while in Etherworld you will manifest in the world of the living. This gestalt is called your Akh. The ghost-like Akh will be visible to the living, and your sight will be slightly improved. While being manifested in Akh-form, your Kau will be drained. When you run out of Kau your Akh will disappear.

While manifested you can try to contact the living by talking (using the chat). However to be able to understand you the living must have the skill Spiritism (a new magic school which will be expanded more in the near future). A Spiritist will be able to interpret your voice, the higher the Spiritism, the more he will be able to understand.

A Spiritist can extend his knowledge of the Etherworld with the skill Akh Manifestation. This skill will let the Spiritist manifest his own Akh for longer, regain Kau faster, and also be able to interpret and listen to the voice of the living.

Messages sent from the Etherworld will show up in grey and have [ether] as their channel-name.


Combat:


- It's no longer possible to get a weak-spot hit unless you fully charge your stab AND wait the extra second.


AI & Mounts:

- Creatures now have proper defence values. Creatures have different defence against different types of damage. This has also affected the HP of creatures, which is now generally lower.

Skill:

- Lowered how much Mental Offence added to magic-damage.
- Aggressive stance no longer gives you a bonus while mounted.
- Aggressive stance no longer gives you a bonus when using ranged weapons.

------ BUG FIXES ------

General:

- Many stuck locations have been fixed.


- Fixed so that the lean-collision that was introduced last patch no longer makes you collide against animals and players.

- Fixed a bug that made it possible to use several bandages/potions if you spammed the action bar.

- Fixed a bug that made it possible to use several bandages/potions if you spammed the action bar.

- Fixed a bug that removed the stun-timer from certain actions.


Magic:

- You can no longer cast the current Ecumenical Spells on buildings.


Skills & Attributes:

- Fixed a bug that made Mental Offence count as if you had it at 80 when you didn't have the skill at all.


Combat:

- Fixed some issues connected to shields and equipping.

- Fixed several crashes connected to swapping weapons while mounted.

- You can now correctly chop off a players left-arm.

The efforts in ghost interaction should be directed to something else. Can not see any point to make the ghost high priority.

The question mark bug should be top priority, when a player loses there gear/weapon/items/gold to this bug it really kills there will to play.

Eeeh...this is really the first notes for which i'm really disappointed. Spiritism, really ? There are TONS of things more important than that :/ there are still critical bugs (like the negative skill points count, like said above), and features that would've deserve a much deserved boost instead of the etherworld.

Just hoping they add more bug fixes to the list before tomorrow.

I agree with most of you, most of us rather just see more bug fixes then features right now. But I'm sure not all the staff can work on coding fixes, so that's why some of them have were busy on some of these new features.

So mage's got more nerfed, now we can't use horses and our magic will do shit dmg again, wasting hughe amounts of mana, having our mental focus broken...
Great!

But we can spend points in order to talk to ghosts hell yeah!

And now archer's got nerfed as well, aggressive stance and shit.
:/

So, mage's even less of an option now, archery is nerfed a little bit (not that bad), and no single important combat related bug or race balancing or skill bug is fixed.

But we can talk to ghosts, hell yeah!

One of the worst patches I've seen.

I agree with Busard, but I really, really like the idea of the Etherworld getting more body.

The new skill sounds awesome, I hope that they will add more then the ability to hear the ghost say 'GET CANCER YOU F*CKING SCRUB ZERGS'

most undead seem very angry, its the getting killed that does it I think

Hold on.....I mean really? No insta log fix or update on that progress? What about the not being able to swing and/or hit bug? What about the glitching everyone out when you dismount?

most use ventrilo/teamspeak and so always have communications available. the whole, being able to talk with someone who is dead thing, seems like complete fluff imo and something that really is unnecessary. if I die I'm still able to talk to everyone in vent. why do I care if I can chat with people locally?

I'm to assume that there's no way to legitimately tell the difference from some one who crashes (client crash) to some one who tries to insta-log, if not (as of right now) is it being looked into?


Also has the vendor issue been fixed?

Yeah, that's what I see, too, amongst other things. It may be fairly pointless now, but I would bet it's not going to stay that way.

Well... at least its more features reminiscent of UO rather then rushed guild wars.

I really think combat needs to be the next focus though, especially before guild wars. Quite a lot of the people who were big fans in closed-beta are now very disappointed with the current combat.

btw I hope you are also fixing naked brawler zergs knocking down houses in a matter of hours.
