Still no player vendors or /whisper function in this patch, it's already bad enough being called a "carebear" for not prioritising pvp as a play style but now the MO devs have gone one more and labeled us chickens. They didn't meant carebears as the non pvpers and casuals, but carebears who refer themselves as so called 'pvpers' but are afraid of death when they are loosing.

So I'm a carebear if im not pvp-centric or if im a casual player, and im also a carebear if i pull the plug in fights, so we're all put in 1 group? It's not good advertising then is it.

They are talking about the garbage players pulling the plug being carebear chickens, and only them.

Insults are exactly that and it should not be in practice from any business to insult their paying subscribers. I'm not a pvper and could really careless about a title such as "carebear" but i was shocked to see it used in an insulting way to their client base.

They were refering to those who, to escape from a fight or just chicken out from anyone, instead of having some guts, just alt+f4 and thus escape death in-game.

No professional business should be insulting their paying customers publicly. They can feel however they like privately, but should maintain a professional manner in public view.

no no, its obvious what the distinction is:

carebear chicken: one who pulls plug to escape death
carebear: one who avoids pvp by normal means (staying in town, running away, hiding etc)

the devs clearly distinguish between these two groups by using a different name for them.

It was never intended to be able to escape death by this means, so the ones who used it are bug-users.
I am definitely for banning them for a few days, would be better than just calling them 'carebear-chickens'

i don't think you understand what hes saying.

I agree with the banning for the misuse of game mechanics as-well. It would be nice to start with those that duped in my opinion and work from there or maybe those that used the spears to pvp pre-patch. I mean there are so many bugged mechanics to chose from to start the ban-hammer swinging.

Developers rarely use colorful language because it can cause players to be offended. Whoever wrote the patch notes let their opinion fly freely. It's not tongue-in-cheek like the fabled Carebear of Alpha days, but it's nothing to get worked up over.

I have issue with this, but not for the obvious reason. Simply put, insults, off color jokes, or any comment of this nature are completely unprofessional and should not be associated with anything officially coming out of SV. It does nothing but hurt the reputation of the company as a hole. If I were an institutional investor backing SV, I would have that person castrated

. Hell it could easily have opened up lawsuit issues. Granted, this comment is silly and fairly mild, but it only takes one screwup to bring the walls down when they are already so thin.

I would have laughed at this post, but watching the evening news today, I saw a segment that discussed the latest patch notes from mortal online. I freaked out, because here I was, thinking that no one in their right mind would give a fuck about some line in a patch note. But then, all of a sudden, I see the UN deliberating on what to do about this insult directed at no one specifically. Is a lawsuit enough? Perhaps military action is justified. The Venezuelan representative made some good points about how mean it is to call someone else a chicken.

YOu obviously have never been to management training. Any insult has potential to bring about a lawsuit. I said this one was mild, but this isnt the first time unprofessional behavior has come out of SV publicly.

Well, if you do not like specific sense of humor that SV has(ie they show us they are humans, just like us, not company trademark we pay to sustain servers like others) then you can go play mmo of a company that is as stiff as certain part of the men body during certain 'physical exercise'.

Ok. To end this. I have nothing against carebears, infact, if you've ever played any game with me you know I am one myself, and proud of it.
So, now that we have the general carebear-population calmed down:

Ppl that instalogged during a fight to evade consequences are cowards, plain and simple. Hence the term "chicken". (No offence to the Gallus gallus domesticus family in general - just using a figure of speech here).
The added "carebear" as emphasising adjective was just that - an emphasis to make them feel a bit ashamed, nothing more, nothing less.

Now everybody be seated again please. Cake and lemonade for everybody! (Whiskey and steak is being served to the adults in the backroom.)
