The Mortal Chronicles ![]() I'd like to announce our new section: The Mortal Chronicles In this purely community driven political/news feed our scribes will provide you with the latest news on who beat who and what happend where. The section will be updated multiple times a week - if needed even multiple times a day. Please note that the content is purely delivered by the scribes (meaning the community) - I merely act as editor in chief for the time being. We also set up an email address where people can send in thing they find newsworthy and who knows, maybe once you tasted ink you'll even want to join the team of scribes yourself. Just shoot us a message. Keep in mind: Even though the section will mostly deal with the in-game politics we want to chronicle ALL the interesting things that happen. Be they fun, weird or just interesting. If they affect the world we want to know it. Now enjoy the read! Cheers, Alex aka Maerlyn Contact the Mortal Chronicles

I don't think Bevo will mind if I disclose that he is of course a driving force in this.
To be perfectly clear. EVERYTHING regarding this new section is based in the community. The content, the reporting on the content, the screenshots, everything. I merely take the role of "chief editor", do the final editing, layout and post the content. Everything esle is done by the scribes. Bevo will of course continue with his thread in the political section as well as his show on MO-Radio. I simply thought it was a nice idea to combine and enhance whats already going on and supporting this effort.

Sometimes I think that things should be simply left in the hands of the players. I personally feel that SV have already taken too much off the players, in way of the economy, it is in no way player driven. In the past, the mod team have tried to take over things that players have set up, and I cant help but feel the same again here. Sometimes the player base should simply be left to do their own thing, especially when it is done so well.
Just my 2 cents of course.

This is a great new aspect of MO, that I am really excited about. This is basically like ISD from EVE. This is a way to merge both the Mortal's content and lore and the player content in MO. To bring the content that we provide the game, in a sandbox game like MO, to the front. It is a huge boost to the players. The player are now playing a key roll in the lore and the story of Mortal Online. It is this, that a sandbox game is all about.
I am helping with this, and it isn't trying to take anything away from what I have done with my thread. This is going to be a newer cleaner outlet for player content, as there were some very clear glaringly obvious flaws in my thread and the work needed to maintain it. My thread is still there, and it is not going anywhere. I am going to continue to post my updates as I always have, and will continue to encourage everyone to post their battle reports as they always have, however I am going to open the discussion a bit more on my thread, but will still heavily mod it.

This is great. I think maerlyn's job is basically making it official. Of course he needs to make sure it is up to "official" standards. I see no problem whatsoever with that. This should be really interesting.

I can assure everyone that if Maerlyn goes and changes the content of my or any of the other writers stories in a way that incorrectly portrays in game events (say a GM was involved and Maerlyn wanted to protect SV or something) then I would obviously have the original content in my thread and be very vocal about how I felt about any censorship of in game events. The goal of this is to provide un-biased truthful reporting of RP events, tournaments, races, large battles and sieges. The news will now be broken here on this blog (which has a RSS feed encase anyone missed that) and then will be posted in my thread. However, what the future holds, and where Maerlyn and SV can play such a big roll in this. My thread has been me, and only me doing most of the updates and work. However Maerlyn has organized a group of players who are central to the politics and events (RP and PVP) in game, outside of just me. So I now have help. We also have a place to organize these stories, and our reporting and coverage now so we can provide more, and better. The other part being that, take tonight for example. One of the members of Myrmidon, (Nakieon) who is a highly sensitive and emotional little girl, became very very sad, and well butthurt over someone else battle report that had nothing to do with him or his guild. Being that Nakieon apparently does not have any battle reports himself, he made one up and posted it over and over and over again in my thread. Ever time I'd delete it he would just spam more post because his feelings were so strongly hurt. I'm not willing to maintained that thread forever like that. He is the only person to spam attack the thread like that, but more will try it down the road I'm sure and dealing with everyone's over-sensitivities and QQing about the same damn things all the time is really more work than it is worth. So here we now have a place to post the updates, where those like Nakieon can't try to bury them. People's Battle Reports can go in my thread and now be discussed (under moderation) and the big updates can be posted here and in my thread, so you don't have to dig through QQing about numbers all the time to find the real info here. However, there are even more things in the works down the road that will give us even more tools to provide more reports and better reports. The ability to view and report events as they are going on, with out worry of being in the way. This is stuff only they might be able to provide down the road, and MUST be carefully managed by SV, because it can be so easily abused. And that is something that no body wants to happen.

Kudos. Organizing and writing such a thing is no small task and it's nice to see this making its way to official channels. I look forward to taking the the copy with coffee without filtering through Bevo's thread.
As Chronicler myself (though in a less objective and more slightly embellished for narrative manner) for our guild I know that the reporting that's been going on up until now is no easy thing to wrangle, and I'd love to do anything I can to help this along. |

This is great!
Thumbs up to Bevo (love your thread dude!) and SV for making this move. The only sad part is that for now the community lacks the tools to really influence Nave. It is mostly battle reports of battles without any background nor goals. Though it must start from somewhere. I am eager to see how this tool evolves.

wow, just wow.
maybe get someone who can write proper sentances? The first "blog" read's like a random thought process of a dim wit. There is no progression, it is statement after statement read out in a very poor form, These scribes need schooling. This looks very unprofessional. Quote:

Just a little tip for while typing, turn spell-check on, simple. It doesn't help the flow of the sentences, but you're half way there if you got the spelling looked after.

The whole fuss above is probably why I'd prefer a dedicated SV member actually sat down and edit the player input. It keeps things professional without losing the original players contribution.
Of course, that means it'll take longer before we get to see things. Perhaps this could be a job for the counselors, just like ISD is a volunteer group for EVE? |

It seems the alias didn't update as it should. It's fixed now and you can reach the section under it's proper link http://www.mortalonline.com/the-mortal-chronicles.
