I just had a crazy thought! Once they get the *S* stolen items to work, you're not supposed to be able to trade it or bank it right away, but, but, but... I wonder if you'll still be able to philfer it ONTO someone else!!!! Wouldn't it kinda be funny and horrible if they forget to code that? Philfer an already stolen piece of greywood onto a full platemail player and watch them turn grey?
Also, how many thieves out there are gonna steal multiple items from a buddy and then run out into the middle of a crowd so they purposely die; friends await the loot frenzy chaos of tons of people dying? I believe the patch did say that if anyone looted a stolen item they too would turn gray.

No, but if HE then drops it, the loot will contain stolen items that WILL flag folks.

I have to admit that is a pretty imaginative way of screwing with someone.
I'm not sure it will work but I really like these kinds of imaginative ideas. Its what makes a sandbox a sandbox...

Well, the running into a crowd with stolen items will work. Then you just have to hope your buddies are quick looters because even after the patch is implemented correctly, you've always got some poor sap with a nice weapon and nice armor that's gonna unwittingly fall into the loot trap.

Step 1 - have a friend buy a stack of say bandages
Step 2 - steal those bandages Step 3 - steal bandages from someone while he is snooping you Step 4 - Have the friend steal the ones you just stole while the guy kills you Step 5 - when the guy loots his bandages he goes grey and you take his stuff

Yep, isn't it just evil... lolol... I would totally be doing it when it's released. But I'd do something silly like.
1. Wear Crap Armor, so you don't look like a thief (people will be a little paranoid of this feature) 2. With a friend, go to a secluded place (Not too far from people) 3. Steal various junk items from a friend. 4. Cut the corner and run into a crowd. 5. Die and hope the chaos looting begins. 6. Hope your friend is a damn good looter. p.s. This is a really easy tactic and what's the worst you can lose? Some crappy armor? I'm sure you'd get tons more armor good and bad to replace it using this "loot bait".

Result: back to square one. (granted, there is a bigger window, due to the time needed to snoop/pilfer onto the mule). Suggestion: Hard one, the only way I can see this being resolved is to remove a pilferers ability to put items into their targets inventory. |

In Oblivion those hot items were marked accordingly, so you knew before-hand that you get flagged for taking it. Easy solution and this shouldn't be too hard to do - if the game allows some sort of overlay over existing icons to make such status visible.
