I think if you start delving into the haircuts/tattoos issue, you might as well change the name to WoW 2 in my oppinion. Lets spend more time perfecting the items that will make or break this game.

FFA PvP
Full loot system
Player housing/guild HQs

etc

WoW acutaly had one of the worst charachter creation I ever saw in an MMO... It was so generic, a free MMO does the exact same thing... City of Heroes had probably the most interesting charachter creation, as you could do anything you wanted...

This doesn't even make sense, I'm home(and awake) maybe 2 hours a day between school, work and social, and maybe 30 minutes of that is spent on the computer. 20 of that on the forums. Not to mention if I went to work without showering that would completely defeat the purpose of my profession....
So...fail, I have no problem having a battle of wits, I enjoy a good fight online, but I refuse to battle an unarmed opponent.

I have no problem with your grammar, but when you start taking shortcuts for every other word, your sentences lose all meaning.
Honestly, I couldn't tell your english was bad, I just thought you were a troll, and I trolled back, your above post is perfectly legible and understandable.

Those are the big features - alot of the discussion I see going on aside from that are the small things - the thread was just an idea for small features I'd like, nothing more. I agree completely, I don't want them spending more time on this than the things you mentioned above.

I wouldn't mind the idea of getting my hair cut, or legally changing my charecters name. It makes me sick that not every game out there has this feature(s) implemented.

Just a thought.
I like that idea!!!!

I could see getting scaars/wounds from battles being a temprary badge of honor while the player would have the option to get other things changed about them like haircuts, carrying trinkets on them, tattoes, etc.

I hate the fact that were too restricted, I mean, we're in fantasy world. So why cannot I engulf my characters eyes with flames, make him wear a headband over his eye(s), and so on, you know, fantasy stuff.

Hair cuts are very plausible, however it wont be in because your hair grows, it would only be to change your looks. Same with tattoos. I doubt anything will be "unchangeable" in those regards. This is a sandbox game, to NOT have these options is redundant.

Growing hair? pff maybe in 5 years.

I want hair that grows naturally and you have to cut it once in a while to keep it the same. It would make a serious money-sink especially if you put the most elegant barber prices sky high And I also want hair to be able to grow real long, but it would look dumb if it didnt' have collision detection on body, and collision detection for hair sounds kinda dumb thing to waste precious server resources on, but... a man can always dream...

On a side note, it would probably be awful to have hair grow naturally, because many jerks would just leave it like that so in the end you'd have a crapload of people with insanely long hair Like... hippies with swords! Then again.. to most people their character's hair would probably be more important than anything functional, so it would most likely work!

What do you have against long hair? ;P
Btw. the idea reminds me of UO, where one they I accidently uses a scissor on my character and then he had blank hair, after that I never cut my hair again. :P

And just to make that clear, yes I'm sometimes reffering to UO. It was a fantastic game and no I don't want to get UO2. There's nothing wrong about taking good ideas from a good game.
That's actually what made WoW so popular, market research and taking good ideas from other games.

Oh I have absolutely nothing against long hair, I just thought a hair which grows at natural (albeit accelerated) pace in a game could result in rather jerky results where a lot of people just run around with long hair, just because they don't care what kind of hair their character has, I probably didn't phrase my thoughts well enough, sorry about that Like always, I'm observing an idea from multiple points of view.

It would be cool to be able to go to like an npc barber and be able to pick out the style of hair you want. It would be a lot easier for the devs if they just do that without hair growing.
Just when you are sick of the same haircut after awhile you can just get a new style. Even though it is first person so you wont be seeing your hair much unless there are mirrors in the game you can look into that would be cool.

I agree, the core game mechanics and features are the most important parts, but if they get all of that right, with none of the small details, the game still sucks. The quality of the game is based on a combination of all the features, in my opinion. While some little things can be overlooked if they aren't to your liking, a combination of many of those will drive you away.

What in that would speak against hair growth? It would just make you go to the barber more ofter to stay with your current hairstyle. I'd like to have requirements like you need to have long grown hair to get some long haired styles etc.
No magically getting a hairstyle without having hair in the beginning.

I just hope it is not too often, if it grows slower than hair grows real life then that is good for me, but if it grows quicker then I would not even want hair growing because it would take up too much of my time in the game.

You could even be able to define your character by choosing which of these animations can or cannot be played.

That'd be a lot of work for the artists, but I would find that quite interesting as it would most definitely make the characters (not only yours) more lively.
I love that suggestion. I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but I feel that it's encumbersome to write those text commands every time my character wants to show emotions.
Making them automated (however, yet customizable) feels like the next step, and it would make the cities and similar a much more dynamic place to be in, IMO.

That hair growing thing would also be a cool feature, while you'd have to keep cutting the hair to keep it 'in style' so to speak. However as mentioned earlier, very hard to achieve on the technical aspect.

One thing that I'd like to see is the fable-ish good/evil indicator on your appearance, which, albeit a bit more fantasy-oriented, would help you out in the wild to set apart friend from foe. And mainly because I'd also like to have a demon-hunting burning-eyes-beneath-bandana evil-ass buttninja, but that's besides the point.

Actually hair growing just like real life would be just fine it would take a good 6 months for me to get real long hair. Maybe even a year. So if hair grows like real life that would be perfect

Maybe just 12-times accelerated, so that you'd get 1 years worth hair/beard in 1 month.

Though I must admit I would create one character I wouldn't play for like 6 months just to open up the character and laugh myself near-dead at the insane amount of hair and beard the guy would have =D Indeed, let us create true unwashed hermits if we want to! Oh, and not bathing should add a venomous cloud around you, so that NPC's automatically attack you if you don't bathe occasionally
