I can't stand the feeling of games when my charecter is trapped in the same body for the entire time. I don't ask that my eyes go from blue to red, however...
I wouldn't mind the idea of getting my hair cut, or legally changing my charecters name. It makes me sick that not every game out there has this feature(s) implemented. Just a thought. |

i hope theres a way u can choose to accept that scar say you get one thats on your eye then on eye brow that over laps your eye one and makes ur guy look pretty dam ugly or ud get that scar in a place u dont want. you can either accept or deny having it. i dont think anyone is going to want to have their whole body covered in scars. or another thing is burns maybe if fighting a dragon u can have like a burn mark on ur back, chest etc.

pay 20$ and have your Character name changed!
or use an illegal name.. you might have some time playing it until you get reported...

In COV you can pick out the scars you want. Look at my avatar.

I LOVE the scars idea. Perhaps if you were killed by a slashing blow that hit your face you would have a scar there when you revive. Or a piercing blow to your arm would leave the same kind of scar there.

I'm not really the kind of person who likes the idea of achievements BUT they could be used in this manner. Think of if you killed a certain ammount of players or innocent NPC's. You get a sorta small achievement with it that allows you to add new looks for your avatar such as darker eyes or a wider grin and scars.
A fun way to unlock things but still not really the best of ideas. The best I woudl say is simply add a skill system for changing a characters looks (E.g. Star Wars Galaxies before they made it ****) Another way players can make money.

Talking about realistic, stuff like haircuts would be pretty cool, having a nice beard or whatever, that'd be a very nice touch.
And I hope for one thing. Just that well, size will matter. I mean, come on, like a dwarf or gnome could hit 20 times harder than an Orc. Whatever. And maybe if you have long hair, you might need to really get them cut 'cause they would get in your eyes while you fight?? Hm, that'd be cool but oh so annoying. Just some random thoughts. |

You mean like racial-strength, orcs having +10 and gnomes having -2 or whatever.
It's pretty common for RP's to have it, I wouldn't mind something like that, but I don't want it to play THAT big of a deal if it does come into play.

To add to the "living character" feeling, I would like more than one 'idle' animations for the characters.
Maybe a "fuck it's cold" animation, a "fiewww, it's hot" one, or a "*whistle* when a hot female character walks by" one, etc... etc... You could even be able to define your character by choosing which of these animations can or cannot be played. That'd be a lot of work for the artists, but I would find that quite interesting as it would most definitely make the characters (not only yours) more lively. |

Having your hair grow would be cool, but for some reason I doubt this will happen. Another cosmetic thing would be the upkeep of armor/weapons. They would look worn down if they were not properly taken care of. |

Yeh these are all very good ideas and would add alot , but most of them we wont see till the next tier of mmo's. However getting the feeling your character is living is a big part of your overall gameplay experience so any ways to achieve this without being to advanced would be great.
I really like the different idle animations this combined with different run animations eg your character is at low health so your limping along slower, would really add another dimension of realism. Unforunently i think the haircut thing you guys suggested is a way of yet. |

Ugh, we're talking about an MMO guys... I guess it's hard for some people to get their heads out of the clouds every time a fancy new game is announced. I seem to remember this EXACT same discussion once the AoC official forums went live :P

I think (hope) most people here are aware of the limitations in technology that would make most of the suggestions in this thread very difficult, if not impossible, to implement. Nonetheless, it's still fun to talk about the ideas.

Exactly. If you havn't noticed - we don't have much solid information to go on. So what do we talk about? What we would like to/not like to see in the game, some are more plausable than others.
This one, although I would love to see, could only truely be done to a minor extent in the interest of time. None the less I would love to see any degree of this idea in play.

Changing name for 7 € = Pure idiocy
Changing realm for 20€ = I dunno But to the business... Scars from a cut in the eye? You have no eye! That would be problematic if you ask me.. Guy would be blind after 2 eyes gone. But something like punishment of the law (whipped 20 times for example) would leave marks. That would be cool. And would make the character unique. But the eye thing... Its almost the same as cutting your head off and walking |

Having brands for robbers who were caught or for murderers would be cool. SWG had people who could change your look and I think having something similar would work here. Maybe just an NPC that you go to. Or in your house if you have a mirror, you can use that to change hair and such. One thing I did notice was a quote saying:
