![]() Recruitment: Open Races: Khurites and Half-Orcs NOTE: More Races may be added with the release of lore and pressure of members, Tindremene will never be an option though. ![]() The Myrland Tribe is a group of players dedicated to shaping the face of any Mortal Online server we play on. We're aiming to forge a vast Khurite Empire that unites under our banner. We consider ourselves a lore-playing conquest Clan, hoping to help shape the face of whatever Mortal server we call home. ![]() We are her to have fun, plain and simple. Games are developed for that sole reason, so playing them religiously and making Mortal into a science is a no go with us. Our attitude towards Mortal follows this simple group of traits. 1. Relaxed: Simply put, Mortal is a game, so we aim to have fun. One of the easiest ways of ensuring that is to relax when playing the game. The Myrland Tribe is going to be a drama free environment. 2. Comfortable: This is an odd thing to say, but to be perfectly blunt, if you're seeking a clan that will help enlarge your E-peen, look elsewhere. 3. Modest: Mild gloating/bragging is part of the game, and we realize this, but making ridiculous claims with no backing is not how we play. Additionally we aim for a friendly gaming atmosphere, meaning even bragging about victories to be proud of is looked down upon, at least when overdone. A simple example is a member who says "Suck it" in comparison to the one who recalls the epic tale of how he decapitated player "x" for hours on end. 4. Focused: While we're a relaxed group of gamers anyone seeking to join us should acknowledge that once we get into a game there's nothing that deters us from achieving our goals. We still screw around and enjoy ourselves while playing, but we aim to do well in games at the same time, because let's be honest, everyone loves to win. On top of that, to us, part of the fun in a game is getting immersed in the world. As that's the case we have a Light role-playing enforced environment in the Myrland Tribe. ![]() Why do games have graphics? Why isn't it just stick-people? Why do we choose what we do? Simple, if there weren’t graphics in a game and the environment as it is there’d be nothing to pull us into the world. Immersion is a major part of games for most people, whether you’re a role-player or hate the concept of it all gamers love to be drawn into an amazing 3D environment you have a hard time believing isn’t real. The reason gamers continue to find our way back to games such as Mortal is we love being immersed in the world, otherwise what reason is there for freedom in a game? You might ask, “What in the hell does this have to do with role-playing?”, and the answer is rather simple. The entire purpose of role-playing is to draw yourself into a gaming world and fully enjoy the experience. Does this mean we don’t realize the reality that we’re playing a game? God no, it simply means that while we’re in the world we’d rather focus on it as it heightens the gaming experience. It can create a vision of the gaming world and your character that you utterly love, whether you’re the asshole who steps on everyone’s toes or the bloodthirsty drunk. Imagine your favorite TV show, or novel, but rather than simply following along the experience you get to control the direction of the story, this is what role-playing is to the Myrland Tribe. This utter dedication that you’ll develop for your character and the gaming world that you aim to forge will not only immerse you in the game play, but additionally it will hone your skills. Some might see this as ridiculous, but when you so clearly see an image of your character driven towards a specific goal you’re more likely to accomplish it. Most of you probably have misconceptions about Role-players from previous gaming experience. We’re here to help clear up what ideas of role-players you’ve forged that are completely unfounded. Aren’t we so kind? 1.“Role-players are care bears” This is the most common misconception about role-players, and one that is wholly untrue. Essentially role-players are the same as average players, the primary differences are that we cut out references to real life, develop and maintain a personality, and use proper English. To start with, when speaking in game role-players speak ABOUT the game world. Rather than discussing the most recent Basketball game or the crap that’s piling up at your office we discuss in game events. This doesn’t mean we don’t care about these things, but we simply keep them in Ventrillo or on the Boards. Rather than taking no personality when in game we develop someone that keeps us enthralled while in the game world. Maybe your character is a borderline drunk or believes himself to be a parakeet, we simply enhance our experience in the game world by acting as part of the story that surrounds our characters. If anything this drives us to succeed more than others, as to fail isn’t simply a failure but can destroy your character. “We use proper English” this doesn’t mean that all who play with us need to be a Scholar in the English language, far from it. It simply means that we don’t use abbreviations or leetspeak. To start with, Abbreviations simply don’t fit and don’t save much time, as even the best of abbreviations can be easily replaced and make you look more intelligent (So rather than lol you can use hah). As for leetspeak, we simply find it annoying, no one likes losing brain cells and faith for humanity by seeing the trash that is leetspeak flood their screen. The final bit of evidence is, if we were care bears we certainly wouldn’t be here in Mortal, a FFA PvP, Full loot environment. If we wanted easy game play and a lack of competition we’d move to a theme park MMO. 2."I can't speak Elizabethan English” We don’t speak Elizabethan English, this is simply cumbersome and silly in the world of Mortal Online. How in the hell could a Khurite speaking Elizabethan English be fitting within the world, language changes from game to game and is never the same. True, if we were playing a game based in the Elizabethan era, this would be our primary form of communication (Though I doubt we’d ever play a game like that) language in games is really forged by the players. There’s no reason why you can’t use simple textbook English with a few modification for lore in a game. Besides, if we have a single applicant who uses ‘thee’ or ‘thou’ I think we’ll have to slap them with a rather large trout. As role-playing has many different levels, as does any play style, we feel it’s rather important to share our view of our own. ![]() 1. It is forbidden to ever make peace with a Monarch, Prince, or People who have not submitted. 2. Spies and false witnesses will be condemned to death. 3. All who choose not to raise their hand to aid the Myrland Tribe in its time of need will be banished from the Tribe and slain if ever their path crosses our own. 4. Property lost during an attack on any settlement of the Myrland Tribe will be restored, given time, by those of the Tribe. As all losses are due to faulty defenses, Tribesmen are expected to fix them. 5. All travelers who pass through the Myrland Tribe’s settlements are to be treated with great respect. Disrespecting a traveler through our settlements will result in a heavy fine and public announcement of your disrespect. Even those we cross blades with elsewhere shall be welcomed within our settlements, even if watched as well. 6. A fight between those in the Tribe, without a Challenge declared and accepted, will result in a heavy fine. All participants will be heavily fined for fighting with Tribesmen is unforgivable, if a conflict arises it should be brought to the Mogul’s attention. 7. To bring dishonor to the Tribe is unforgivable. If you inflict damage upon the Myrland Tribe’s name you will be stripped of your title and heavily fined. 8. To slaughter the defenseless is an act that will lead to severe penalties within the Tribe. There is no honor in killing those who do not fight back, and if anything it harms the image of the Tribe. 9. It is forbidden to bathe or wash garments in running water during thunder. ![]() 1. All within the Myrland Tribe have an equal opportunity for riches, in return all must pay tribute to the Mogul. A.Tribute may be paid by items of an equivalent value if a Tribesman has no gold. 2. It is forbidden, under penalty of death, to pillage until the commander gives permission. After it’s been granted, commander and soldier alike have the right to what they’re able to carry off, providing they have paid their tribute. 3.Regular trade partners who have not been approved by the Mogul are forbidden on pain of death. This is seen as the act of supplying the enemy, for unless the Mogul grants permission they are just that. 4.Trade Routes that regularly trade goods of the Myrland Tribe to any other person or body of people must be authorized by the Mogul. If you trade without permission this will be seen as supplying the enemy. 5.To take advantage of dire times is unacceptable, any who monopolize a market and then skew prices will be heavily fined. This is a dishonorable pursuit, and therefore will not be tolerated. 6.All places of business must adhere to set standards set by the Mogul. If any are found conducting business in an unsuitable location their wares may be confiscated if the Mogul wishes. ![]() 1.No subject of the Myrland Empire may take another for servant or slave. 2.Once a Tribe or People have devoted themselves to the Myrland Empire they will hold equal rights as all others in the Empire. None will be valued above those of different origins. 3.The Ruler of a Tribe that has submitted, whether through peaceful means or force, will remain as the leader of their people and be granted a seat on the Council. 4.If any Tribe or People of the Empire are attacked all others must spare what they are able to for their defense. 5.A Tribe/People who have warred with us must pay a Tribute after submission. This Tribute will vary dependent on wealth, size, and power. 6.A Tribe/People who submits peacefully will be welcomed into the Myrland Empire without the need to pay a Tribute. We've just completed our website and it is now up and running, though there are still some kinks in it that need to be worked out and there will be visual changes in the upcoming weeks. If you'd like to visit it please feel free to go to www.myrlandtribe.org. More information about the Clan will be released/developed as we learn more about the game, certain aspects require some knowledge of the mechanics and as that's the case we'll hold off on writing down specifics until we have the information necessary. A key example here is the Ranking system for the Myrland Tribe, we're waiting on both the arrival of more Lore (If any more is to come) and information about the game as we do not want to develop a structure not supported by the game's mechanics. -Ryahask Lenaro, Mogul of the Myrland Tribe "The Tindremic Empire longs to control our homes, we know this to hold truth. We have watched their pathetic attempts to gain dominance over the races of Myrland. Though normally such disgraceful acts would be ignored, the land grows thirsty and her inhabitants weak. The winds of change will soon devour our lands, we acknowledge this. We shall forge an empire that spans across all of Myrland, to ensure our future remains our own and the Tindremic Empire withers as it should. Always nice to see more guilds for MO..and yours appears to be a fine one indeed. I hope we will get as many guilds as possible so competition will be fierce and only the strong, organized ones will make it in-game and also gather a member base of mature, positive gamers.
Liked your Roleplay section of the guild description. Just yesterday I made a thread about it -> are you a roleplayer? (hope you'll enjoy the clips :P) |

Nice!
One thing bothers me though...why whould a khurite join a half orc in the same tribe? In the oficial lore it is mentioned that Khurites are pressioned from the Orcs in North and I think its logical to assume that Khurites would be rather reserved int her relations with the Half Orcs... Nevertheless its very good that another tribe has risen ^^ Good luck guys!

The Big R must have made this recruitment post. It's... so much better than our Forumfall post. Maybe it's just the different font. O' I feel as though my eyes witness the brightest of light, that these orbs have been cast from the darkness of night...

To start with, Kel, I approve of that thread with all of my heart. That has to be the best publicity for roleplayers since "Fear of Girls". Almost better too, almost, but I don't think anything can compete with the great image "Fear of Girls" has given us.

As this is the case the Myrland Tribe opens her arms to her brothers and sisters, for it's of no fault of their own, but rather their parents, that they have Orcish blood in their veins. Besides, anything that controls the power a Half-Orc does that wishes to aid our cause is more than welcome. And, yes, some Khurites may be reserved in relations with the Half-Orcs, but there are those who are as the Myrland Tribe, I'm certain you'll one day encounter a Half-Orc in the Erden Tribe. On a final note, yep, nice to see that we won't be inhabiting the region alone, afterall we need Tribes to draw into our Empire, but we'll save that for another day. Hell, who's to say our brute strength can't be organized? Those silly formations you call organization simply line up your "Soliders" for slaughter. Rather than searching a field for them I just have to make my way down a line.

That really made me laugh. (we'd love some of your jesters) Go watch a Roman Documentary on combat that "lining up for slaughter" tactic is the was the most effective tactic for various reasons. Well lets leave you guys to find out why.. Mortal Online is coming!

How will you react when your flanks become the frontlines, mounted archers attack and withdraw without warning or perceived pattern, when your plans crumble before your eyes. Look up the Romans? Look up the Mongols. Look up the Huns. Any of the great horse nations. Know your enemy and learn to fear.

Calm down, fellas. While I personally agree that horse archer nations (Huns, Seljuk Turks, Mongols, ect.) were actually OVERPOWERED in real life, I believe our Tindremes friend was saying something tongue-in-cheek.

Overpowered, thats also funny. The Romans cant be outflanked they have a "reserve" army which is potentially a 4th infantry unit to the very back of the army. If you push past us in a attempt to flank they will merely slow you down while the calvary engulfs you.

What good is a reserve army that can't catch its target?
Just look a the war in Vietnam, here are the basic rules of guerilla warfare: The enemy advances, we retreat. The enemy camps, we harass. The enemy tires, we attack. The enemy retreats, we pursue. Straight for Mao Zedong, and it worked against the largest army in the western world. Hopefully you already knew that.

I was so tempted to just say "This is SPARTAAAAA!!" but I just wanted to give a recent example of how these kind of tactics could be employed.
