I voted WoW and I'd like to clarify:
The original WoW days before battlegrounds, during TM and Southshore zerg wars, were simply amazing. That was the best. Ever since the honor system came out, the game was ruined. But that brief memory fills me with more nostalgia than any other game does.

That would be Planetside which sadly isn't on the list. Under a good leader and together with a good outfit every battle you fought was an epic struggle for (short) supremacy! For the Terran republic and Ostekake, yeah!
mmofps ftw! Organized Gal drops were awesome.

Forumfall, frankly, but I suppose I'll have to say WoW off that list. (The game does what it does extremely well, and I was also deprived of old UO by lack of knowledge and sheer youth at the time. Illicit means of playing the old game now are really just not the same.) Hopefully that will change to EVE before the release of Mortal, Darkfall, Renaissance, or Infinity: The Quest for Earth, and subsequently change to one of those four games.

I didn't play UO (tried to dl the client for trial recently, but I was under the impression that I needed a FilePlanet paid account, so I gave up for the moment).
I've played EVE Online and loved the concept (made me discover sandbox) but not long enough to really appreciate it. So I went with the honest answer in this poll: Guild Wars. Surprisingly enough it's quite the opposite of a sandbox game and I'm a sandbox fanboy, but the PvP (even though it was consensual) was really sweet and elaborate. I have the urge play it again from time to time. |

SWG pre CU. back then I really thought that MMOs were just going to get better from that point on. I guess I was wrong.

Ultima Online in the pre-UO:R days was the absolute best. Being on edge all the time with the adrenaline pumping while killing mobs waiting for that PK or two to show up and attack... then kicking them in the nutsack and looting their corpse(s)... good times. Or I would just scout the common PK hangouts for some action.
I also played EQ since a few months after release up into Velios, but quit sometime after. I ping ponged between EQ and UO for some time. I played WoW since release off and on finally until I couldn't handle that crap anymore and quit last year. I stuck it out so long because the wife enjoyed the game. Since I put up with her for WoW, she's going to put up with me for MO. She's not a PVPer but her being able to own her own house has her all giggles. We're going to play AoC to tie us over until this bad boy is released. |
