Default Launcher doesn't start - error instead

When I launch Mortal Online, I get a "system error has occurred message".
Does anyone know what's causing it? I couldn't find any solution on the broken launcher thread. Both launcher and updater are saying "Config system startup failure"

Sounds like an issue with .Net. Try to reinstall Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5.

Just did this, and it didn't work. I'm running Framework 4 though, don't know if it has any implications. It was working earlier today, but the error showed up after I rebooted the PC.

change system language settings to english if you are using a different one. In the old days, this was causing similar problems, perhaps it helps

All of the .Net frameworks are mostly independent within Windows. Reinstalling 3.5 wouldn't affect any other versions.

Reinstalling the .Net Framework really SHOULD be the solution to this issue and I'm surprised that didn't work for you.

Another thing you could try is deleting all Mortal Online Launcher files in your main directory, copy updater.exe and rename the new one to "Mortal Online Launcher.exe" and run updater.exe which will redownload the launcher.

Tried this and the updater gets stuck on "waiting for launcher". I guess I'll try re-installing the game or so...

EDIT: Re-installed the game, and ran the launcher. It works up until the point where it's downloading the updated launcher/dll files. After that, I get the same error, "config system". Don't know if this is relevant or not.

Nope. Even deleted every patch (after backing up). I get the same error. I don't know what the problem is, since it crashes before anything shows up, but two days ago it was working.

It seems I fixed it. I unninstalled the game once again, but this time I created a new folder for the reinstall, and it worked. Something about the old folder was corrupted don't know how.
I did do a backup of the patch files, but when I paste them back on the new folder, the launcher doesn't recognize them and starts downloading the patches from scratch.
Is there a way to manually install them?

Are you sure they were in the right folder? They should be in your Mortal Online\mortalonline folder, not in the patches folder.

Yep, 100% sure. It's not recognizing them. Oh well, I'll just download them again...
