http://www.swtor.com At first I was like, humm I'm sure I won't like it.. but I bought it anyway. I tried it for the first time yesterday and I'm having a blast!! I'm not a fan of STAR WARS (really not!) but I'm a mmorpg nerd. I've played/tried them all (since 1995) and this one caught my attention after playing it... What do you think?

same here, i wasn't a fan but i picked it up and really.. the combat feels so much more engaging than any other MMO iv played, the cut scenes and interactive convo's are amazing and the story i brilliant <3
only complaint is server que times.... can go up to 2 hours on peak on say a Saturday which is very annoying.

I'm playing on Jung Ma, PvP-RP. Name is Sarlith, Imperial Agent Operative.
I enjoyed the game quite a bit in the beta, and so far I really like it. I play it more as a single player game with others there. Its basically kotor3 for me. I need people for certain group quests, but otherwise I can solo and have that great kotor experience. Each class has its own story, so it has great replay value. After I finish with the Operative, I'll probably play Jedi Knight, Trooper, then go from there. It story and dialogue really make this game shine. It feels like an adventure instead of a quest. |

only problem i have with this game, is the "linear" world, as in its not very open if you want to get from x to y you almost always have to follow road b if you dont do so you will end up being blocked by an invisible or cosmetic wall.... thats the only really big letdown ive had with the game, hope it changes in the higher lvls

I was interested in it, but a friend of mine got it first.
After seeing it, I think the playstyle is too generic MMO style, and from what I saw the voice active was pretty bad, especially compared to Bioware's other RPGs. I might pick it up one day to play for the story, but I quit WoW due to stale/gear based gameplay, and don't think I can get into another game like it. |

they need to make a Battlestar Galactica mmo. Battlestar > Starwars, and Startrek bitches, oh it owns Stargate too.
anyone notice how the popular space scifi series/movies all have Star in them...

I really just cant enjoy this game sadly,
its even more linear and SP than any other mmo out there. I liked the old Star Wars galaxies online A LOT when it was released, until they gave in to allow everyone being jedis.. and now with the new star wars, even less sandboxy and more linear, and everyone is jedi... It could be on a console and be one hell of a SP game though I was hoping they could do a new galaxies master piece, cause that game was pro, I miss it some time... Darn UO, SWG and some other old games made me be so picky about mmos, so theres nothing fun on the market today I think, hence MO is here though Not talking about the quality, brand and content, but in general themepark/sandbox feature line. Cause these guys sure do know how to make a solid product.

Yeah I loved the early SWG, it was soo hard to get to jedi status, I think i saw one in about 4 months of play, in the Cantena, he looked so cool sitting in the corner with his hood up!, then they caved and it totally took the meaning of the game away. Its like the gave you the end goal without you having to do anything , stil makes me sad thinking about how they ruined the best game ive ever played

Henrik,
at least they have trading tools and a running economy…you know… players can freely transact with each other without being online , or yell-sell like MO. think about out sometime... |

I said nothing about stargate being a sandbox, only that battlestar galactica the show ownws stargate the show. as a sandbox game of course stargate would own.

It's some F2P thing and I seem to recall hearing that it kinda sucks, which is understandable given the F2P nature. |

Its fun and i love it!
But dont let the hype and fanboy talk blind you. The game still has many problems even after the long beta, you just cant hear the whine about bugs, because the other whine (most about pointles stuff) from all the kids spams it away. lol For example i have one character that cant enter flashpoints anymore and another that cant read party&general chat anymore. Lots of other but minor and playable stuff too but meh thats to be expected. Love the storylines and voice quests, really much fun stuff in there but sometimes gets old and predictable. But how often can you find an interesting wording for "kill 20 guys and get me XY" anyway? About the combat: Rationally thinking iam doing the same lame rotation button pressing shit like in WoW.. and i cant really point out why.. But it is much more fun! But my main is Bounty Hunter so fire works, rockets, kicking guys off from cliffs etc. may have influence on that. Instancing: That is really horrible here and puts me off. I dont mean the story areas, where you enter a little green zone or something, i mean the loading screen that takes forever! xD Every Space Travel, wipe in a flashpoint it changes and that is really annoying. Also it makes the Servers really empty, there is no global chat or something, or way to see where the population is at. You can only see how many people are in your Zone and if there is a 2nd instance open for the Zone. Also group finding is not so easy because you have to ask on the planets in your level range or on the Imperial/Republic Fleet. I dont ask for some automatic group maker, but some platform to find others would be nice. Ah nearly forgot PvP: Some really nice war zones, huttball is REALLY fun! |

Sandbox? The thought that this game would be a sandbox never even crossed my mind. Anybody who thought so... I ask, have you played any of the Knights of the Old Republic games?
This is a sequel to those games, and it does very well in that regard. It is a worthy sequel with many new features and is quite fun. But if you're expecting more than a kotor sequel in MMO form... why did you even bother? |

Wow in space lol but I have to say it isnt that. The only thing im not happy about is how hard it is to get a group because of lack of global chat. But the game is only 2 weeks old and it is patching atm, im sure this stuff will all get worked out.

There is no sounds, no NPCs chatter, no ambient sounds like wind, crickets, no day/night cycles ect. The quests are so boring i rather see paint dry, only the storyline was good and fun to follow. Feel like the whole game was built from the ground up only with voice overs as priority rest of the game is a after thought. People are all ready starting bashing the spacebar to just get the frikkin quest, how fucking epic is to listen to a boring sod only to tell you to kill 6 sandpeople for some odd reason.

Republic Sentinel here, I'm with a PvP guild I used to fight against in War and played Rift with them, having a blast so far.
The only gripe I've got is the missions seem to be from one furthest point on the map to another so you spend too much time travelling, even with a speeeder. No it not sandbox but it works and does what its supposed to do and you can play without having all your past few days efforts wiped out because of some bug.

Careful! There is no good PvP in this game. World PvP has no meaning, there is no rewards. Death penalty is... There isnt one.
This is for PvE and star wars nerd gasms only. Do not buy if you like PvP at all.
