Easiest way would be to farm the gold for the deeds, 300 for house, 250 for guild stone. Farm the materials needed, and hire an engineer to build it for you. I have built houses with 2-3 people in matter of days. PM if you need engineer services.

1st way: kill mobs and then butcher the carcasses, you could also make money by selling the carcasses.
2nd way: make metals and sell them. 3rd way and toughest one, do pvp kill random people be lucky and find fat loot

There are players who will pay as much as 5 gold per 10k stack of granum and/or calx. Both of which can be found in abundance around Nave. If you've got friends, have each of you mine 50k granum a day and you'll be rolling in money in no time. Once you get a house up and running, you can then start making crafting characters to use the granum to make steel and tungsteel for weapons for yourselves.

Not just money need to consider your gph (gold per hour) and risk. Refining takes a lot of time even if it makes you more money. You can be a faster better miner than someone else - just be strong with a good horse, and stay off cold nodes - while a trained extractor is just as slow as any other, extracting is a very long and $$ time to learn the profession - and refiners are even worse as require multiple ore types so is a higher risk cargo which means you are at risk for losing more money.
You should be able to mine a lot more than a 50k horse a day - each horse is 25g (used to be 15g), my miner could easily do four horses before I got tired (or ganked) and wanted to do something else. So a house and stone is only 22 horse runs not counting losses. It is more efficient to have miners and extractor in parallel, rather than do it in serial, but five guys is enough to create a back log of ores while the extractor learns how to do it - but I think you could get there faster just gathering and selling the ores. Once you get your guild then you need the refined metals to have a military infrastructure- then bring the miners in to start learning the extracting. There is a reason butchering tame animals is $$$ Gankers do not want to bother with a heavy animal carcass to kill you and your pet, especially if you are swimming it. (Easier to try to take it out in town though) It can take a while to lead them back to the butcher station, but they have a lot of nice mats even at NPC buy prices, so they waste no time getting back out to the field for another one. Ditto the comment about butchering (extractor) in parallel. Why do you think ore prices are going up - all the miners got ganked and started hunting, yet towers/keeps cannot be built with animal parts. Mining is feasible semi-AFK but there is no way you can hunt AFK, no mounted archers in the jungle and you are playing the hunter so you can watch out for gankers. Thus before TC granum was 3g now it is 5g. So two or three guys gathering, one or two guys extracting/refining (extra guy is for security - minimize risk with partial loads and guarding) Last edited by yarnevk : 22nd December 2011 at 02:06. |

Of course you do if you disregard the risk and training. If you made less selling steel than selling its raw materials - nobody would ever sell steel as it is not profitable, that is ECON 101. You should at least sell it for what you could have sold the raw materials for, plus the extra time it took in considering your markup. Keep in mind that while you are learning how to make steel it will not be profitable - because the way the game works is you need to know the lore to improve your input/output ratios in extraction and refining, books cost lots of gold to learn refining and only take you to 70+ getting to 100 requires experience. There is a bonus for smart PC - get 100 int and you get only need to get to 90. So you make less with more effort initially - but you cannot sell it for more than someone who made more with less effort. So it makes more sense for the new guild to make steel because they need to build their armoury, then consider selling it only after they have mastered it. Split the ores into sold for easy gold vs. learning for steel portions.
Search the forum for the guide to metal threads - your exact profitability depends on which recipes you use and what natural resources are easiest to get. It also depends on buy vs. sell demand. Ore and Metals demand is climbing because of TC. MO is all about risk however - it cannot be disregarded. There are guilds of roving bandits who have figured out why waste time and gold learning the lore and gathering, extracting, refining- when it takes a lot less work to gank a miner on a full horse. They will even ghost scout the area keeping an eye on which miner has the full horse for maximum ganking return. You are easily ganked in the back even in town, if you are AFK at the extractor/refiner they know little chance of getting guarded if the town pop is low. The worst gankers are game bugs; horses that vanish with your load, shallow water that drowns you, extractors/refiners that eat your material, etc. Do not count on every GM getting your stuff back every time.
