The official
#Mortalonline channel is hosted by the
Stratics network and is a private channel, which means that it is moderated by volunteers from the Mortal Online community.
When logged onto the Stratics network, please read and abide by the
Terms of Service. There are additional Rules of Conduct, listed below, which apply specifically to the
#Mortalonline channel, and are designed to cater for the requirements of the Mortal Online community.
Failure to comply with these rules will result in warnings or being kicked from the channel. Repeated failure to listen to warnings will result in a 24-hr ban. In severe cases the ban may be extended or made permanent. You should read these rules in conjunction with the
Moderator Customer Charter.
The Rules of Conduct are subject to change at any given time, and it is your responsibility to keep yourself abreast of announcements which advise any updates to these rules.
In matters of dispute the Moderator's word is final.
- Be respectful of others at all times
Occasionally, there will be conflicts that arise when people voice opinions. Be courteous when disagreeing with others. It is possible to disagree without being insulting.
- Personal attacks are prohibited
Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are messages that are designed to personally berate or insult another. For instance, do not swear at or denigrate other users with religious or sexual insults. Arguing over PvP is permitted, so long as this focuses on in-game events or actions, and does not deteriorate to direct insults, swearing or real life threats.
- Trolling is prohibited
Trolling is the word used to describe a message that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting the players and/or Moderators. Please remember that in text-only communications some meaning can be lost, and be careful when making jokes that might offend others if they are not understood.
- Topics regarding sex, politics, religion and illegal substances allowed provisionally
We would like the channel to be a place where people can discuss such matters openly and freely. However, if at any point the conversation provokes flaming or becomes disruptive to the channel, a Moderator may choose to end it. Illegal substances may be discussed but not advocated.
- Ranting is prohibited
A rant is a long-winded, redundant set of messages, often filled with angry, non-constructive comments.
- No offensive nicknames
Please do not use nicknames incorporating swear words, insults or religious or political statements.
- Flooding/spamming/text formatting is prohibited
Any amount of text put into the IRC at any given rate may be deemed flooding/spamming at the discretion of a Moderator. Please be mindful of how much you utilise the IRC and keep your text flow at reasonable levels. Please do not format your text, and please limit the use of repeated capitals.
- Label pictures which are not safe for work
Any pictures or in-game screenshots which are unsafe for a working environment (e.g. contain nudity or violence) must be tagged as such - please add "NSFW" before or after the link. Adult content is permitted, unless it counts as pornography. In matters of dispute over what counts as pornography the Moderator's word is final. Pornography may result in an instant ban.
- Scripts are to be silent, and may only be used on yourself
Any scripts utilised in the official Mortal Online IRC channel are to be silent at all times. Scripts may also only be used on yourself, not other users
- Impersonation of Star Vault Employees/Volunteers prohibited
You are under no circumstances allowed to impersonate any Star Vault Employees/Volunteers, doing so will result in an immediate ban. Further actions may apply.
- Do not discuss or advocate warez/cracked/illegal software and cheats/hacks/exploits
The Mortal Online IRC channel does not allow topics dealing with WAREZ, MP3's, movie files or any software deemed illegal. Please also do not discuss, explain or advocate cheats, hacks and exploits for either Mortal Online or any other game. The only exception to this rule is if you are assisting a developer with testing a cheat, hack or exploit in the Mortal Online beta. Please also do not accuse other players openly of hacking, but report this separately to a GM using the in-game help tool.
- English language only
The official IRC channel (#MortalOnline) is international, therefore you must speak English.
