Curse filled posts, ranting and flames destroy communities. Once a bit of vitriol is allowed, it snowballs, things go down hill fast. After awhile, you can't even ask a legitimate question without being told to die in a fire. Feelings get hurt, and people walk away with very negative feelings about the game. I hope the mods here continue to moderate this stringently as we go on. |

I need a hug now.... I feel all dirty, I never knew I had an E-persona, is that Spanish for something rude. Ie "his e-persona flop out of his trousers, and started thrashing about" Or would you prefer I scream DIE DIE and go to another game at you, to make you feel more at home. Either way the whole MO, Darkfall thing and using Forums to compare the size of your todgers while screaming at each other only drives some people away, you then start creating a self defeating envoirment, for pete's sake its so important that both of these games succeed, as another 10 years of main stream online games as at their currant state is just to horrific a notion to bear. Now I love pure PVP, but it always gets so niched, not so much about the game play but about the people themselves, in game shout your tuants and insults , thats good, thats how it should be, but in the forums as well its just pathetic and counter productive and a big huge KUDOS to the way these forums have been handled, because I have seen some fantastic and intelligent debate here, very well thought out and thought provoking in some cases, it gives me great confidance about the community once it gets in game, even if the game is weak to begin with a good community makes people stay(not saying it will be weak), a bad community well as I said its counter productive . |

Thats why a person whos buying stock want to know that when he is checking up on the company he bought his shares in wont get him kicked out from his work cause the pictures on the forum are 'Not Work Safe' and the netadmin shuts his client down. I dont think many of the so called free speech and anarchy flag wavers on this forum have understood just that part, that there are rules in for a reason. -StJudas

Don't you think the internet is filled with enough free speech as it is already? With free speech I refer to asshattery, general trolling and flaming.

"There are no legal limits to free speech, but there are civic limits. In any society, there is a civic understanding that free speech should be used wisely so not as to provoke sensitivities, particularly in hybrid, multicultural societies we see in the world today. It is a matter of civic responsibility and wisdom, not a question of legality or rights." - Tariq Ramadan (The International Herald Tribune, 6 February 2006)

Not sure what's there to flame about anyway if the game isn't out so basically you can only discuss the concepts. Plus with the dev's being so open about things there's nothing to bitch about there either. So really, what free speech is it that you're looking for? What is it that you'd like to say on here but can't? |

Mr Judas? Thought it was St. Judas... Lol
Anyways, I think the mods are a great team, and they help represent what the development team represents. A great team that has good chemistry together and they work well together to produce good quality gaming and a fun community, which is what we all want. Agro

This is the internet, freedom of speach is very well possible but it should be via respect, not trash talk.

I think the moderation is still over the top, people put out opinions/suggestions, and they get their threads locked immediately. I just don't see the point in having a forum if you barely let anyone except a few people make a thread. Plus the fact sometimes you're posts get randomly deleted and threads do to with no follow up as to why. < This post will get deleted no doubt so I'll copy it and screenshot this as evidence.

Swearing is no big deal, I think we got a bunch of sallies running around the forums, but whatever. Porn and whatnot I can see, but why would anyone post here, its free all over the internet. If someone is being an asshat take him down a notch, and I'm fighting for the little/good guys, imagine what I say to the bad ones

Because it's not that accepted in society and it grabs more attention to what you are saying.

I think swearing is okay as long as it's constructive, as in, the swear word is in place in order to emphasize part of the post, or to portray something as it is. I disagree with the idea that all swearing is bad in all situations.

While I would agree that a very small few good discussion threads may have been locked recently, I still think that the mods have done a very good job in making sure duplicate threads are non existant. They are also very good at making sure once a question is answered, the thread is closed. Would be no use beating a dead horse.
Plus the mods don't have that "super professional" attitude that they have to reply to everything properly and inhumanly. They got a human side to them, which is what I like about moderators most of the time. Plus the mods take part in discussions sometimes and don't just close threads and give warnings. So kudos mods. +1 for all of you
